You can delete calls from your log. All the teacher would learn is that you know how to use that function.

By that logic, even if he ratted out his friend, he couldn't have proved it was their phone that rang. But, supposedly, the teacher dished out the punishment right after she heard a phone ringing, so OP wouldn't have had a chance to delete any calls from his log.
