Cruisin' for a bruisin'

Today, while discussing difficulties in relationships, I cautiously suggested to my best friend that he may not have the healthiest way of resolving conflicts. He got angry at me for not understanding him but refused to tell where he felt misunderstood, then gave me the silent treatment. Way to prove a point, dear. FML

dude literally said, “here, lemme give you an example”

Much of the time when people talk about their problems, they don’t want advise, they want sympathy. Of course when people keep making the same mistakes over and over it’s very hard to be sympathetic and a thinking person will offer advice instead… Unfortunately while genuine good advice is needed, it’s seldom appreciated… But, A friend ought to be able to hear an discuss things with their friend even if they don’t like what they are hearing. It seems OP’s friend is emotionally immature and unable or unwilling to do that.

How is the silent treatment not the best way to resolve a conflict?
