You've got mail
Today, I got a text from my ex-boyfriend that said, "I love you." Thinking this meant he'd changed his mind about breaking up with me less than 24 hours before, I replied back excitedly. Turns out that was a text sent last weekend that didn't go through until now. What great timing. FML

So he tells you he loves you and breaks up with you a few days later? Either he was lying about it or something else happened that we don't know about. Either way, it's not a great situation to be in. Stay positive, OP!

Only Chuck Norris or MacGyver could fix this technology fail.

Yeah it drives me nuts when a text doesn't go right away. But you're better of without the guy! Stay positive and strong op!

It really depends on what happened during that week.

Might've been out of habit. If not, I know from experience it's possible to love someone and want them to know that but at the same time have a sneaking knowledge that a relationship with them isn't sustainable.

Get better cell service so you'd get your text on time and not deal with this kind of awkward stuff. Oh, and don't be so easy.

Hey ms judgey pants, don't be judging. You don't know enough of OPs story to be making comments about being easy.

You have no idea what caused the break up. or how long they've been together or anything. maybe he's moving and she's okay with a long distance and he's not. it's all up in the air. how fricken closed minded of you to assume just because she wants the guy she obviously loves back that she is easy. -_-

He realised the text didn't go through until then and he hit send on accident? Is the only way I can think of how this happened

Yeah my phone does the same, and occasionally spams the same message 10 to 15 times.

Yeah, we have no idea why they broke up, and I know from experience also that you can love someone leading up to and after breaking up with them but still making that decision because it's for the best.

Everyone that receives late texts; go into settings, and look for Update PRL Profile/Activate Your Device. Do this when you go to different cities/areas. Try it, and if you don't have this option in your phone, call your carrier and ask for the update PRL code. I used to work for Sprint and Verizon

This is true in theory, not in practice. You don't just stop loving someone in an instant and declare a breakup immediately. The breakup may require some pondering or preparation, or it may just take time for someone to fully commit to the decision.

Not to mention they're probably undecided last they said I love you. so this person might have felt his feelings wavering and didn't want her to find out just in case he decided they could work it out
