What? It's just helpful advice because we know better.
Today, I introduced the concept of 'mansplaining' to my husband. Ever since, he's been deliberately mansplaining every single thing to me. All. The. Time. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, I tried to talk to my soon-to-be-husband about how he needs to take a more active approach in his own life. It devolved to him screaming at me and putting words in my mouth. This has been going on for six months. FML
Today, my boyfriend decided he was going to narrate everything I do. I can't get him to stop. FML
Today, my husband explained that talking to me makes him miserable. FML
Today, I explained to my husband how much it bothers me when he constantly talks about one of his coworkers. He listened closely, never interrupted me, and seemed genuinely sorry afterwards. While he was consoling me and telling me that he'll stop, he called me by her name… three different times. FML
Today, when I had a go at my husband for spending way too much time in front of the TV, he pointed the remote control at me while miming turning down the volume in order to make me shut up. FML
Today, my husband asked me to spoon him. He used it as an excuse to start farting on me. Yep, this is my husband. FML
Today, my husband has a terrible temper and starts screaming for everything. Consequently, I've learnt to deflect and shift blame to save myself. He says he flies off the handle because I shift blame, while I do it to avoid being verbally abused. Made for each other much? FML
Today, my hubby asked me what we were doing for dinner. He'd already asked me twice and each time I responded, he said, "Sounds good." He has no idea why I feel like he doesn't listen to me. He's been doing this shit for 12 years. FML
Today, I was complaining about the weather when my fiancé looked at me and said, "Can I ask a favor? Can you stop moaning and complaining and bitching about every single little thing that doesn't go your way?" He continued on for a good five minutes detailing how much I complain. He's a dead man. FML
Today, my man complained about having to listen to my "emotional problems for hours." Yeah, we did talk for two hours, 90% of which was him asking for my advice on which new mattress to buy for his bed. FML

Well, depends on your definition of mansplaning but honestly, the number of times men (my ex boyfriend for instance) did that to me ... I'm French, I have a bachelor in English and I'm training to be an English teacher, on the other hand my ex could barely form a sentence in English and yet he still argued that a compared analysis of French and English grammars I was making was wrong. If that's not mansplaning what is it?

mansplaining is basically when a man explains something (normally to a woman/women) in a condescending & patronising tone. often the term's used when men try & explain female issues to women like they know better
minissaussette 25
It's when a man "explains" - for lack of a better word - something to a woman based on the assumption that he knows the subject better than her when he doesn't. For instance, if I say women often get harrassed on the street and a man says they're not, it's mansplaning because he can't know better than I do since I am a woman, and I'm often harrased on the street and he is not. The other way around it could me saying that getting hit in the nuts isn't painful. Basically it's when men assume they know better than women simply because they're men.

A big problem in the 3rd wave feminist cell. Pretty much when a man explains something manly (Sports, cars, etc) to a woman.
Ashamed_Sister 60
Originally, mansplaining described the somehow arrogant and condescending way a man explains something to a woman even though she already knows it. However, nowadays it's mainly used as an insult thrown at men after they have explained something to women who have no good comebacks. It's also used by feminists as a standard insult in order to avoid real discussions. Especially femnazis use this word towards everyone including me, and I'm a girl. That's why it has no real meaning anymore.

Mansplaining isn't a concept it's just the way all men talk to women.

Like all women are super easy, right? What, aren't we taking turns saying stupid stuff?

Mansplaining is just a product of first world feminism that desperately tries to validate their points by making up issues.

The idea of mansplaining is sexism, plain and simple. It's those kind of attitudes from some women that give feminists as a whole a bad rap.
brezzyanna 17
The actual definition of mansplaining really isn't. Its men explaining female topics to women in a condescending way. Speaking like that is sexist. This is just a term to describe it.

If you think mansplaining is an actual thing, then you deserve to be spoken to like an idiot.

And now he should leave you for being a bitch. I feel sorry for your husband.

You mean you woman-splained the concept? After all, you're a woman and you explained something.
zeffra13 31
That's not why it's called mansplaining.
OGMichael 9
But op is a woman and is trying to tell her bf he MANsplained, how can she know more of mansplaining than i, the man? That would be womansplaining
KaleTheVane 7
Maybe because mansplaining is bullshit
