Welcome…
Today, I met my mother's deeply religious fiancé for the first time. His response upon seeing me was to look me square in the eye and say, "You'll need to take out that nose stud or I'm afraid you'll not be welcome in our home." FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, I flew home to visit my parents. We haven't seen each other in two years, I've gotten a few tattoos done since, and I knew they wouldn't approve, so I bought whole new outfits that covered everything and looked professional. When I got there, the first thing my mom says to me is, "Is that a nose ring!?" FML
Today, while having dinner with my girlfriend's very religious parents, her mother called me a heathen and said she'd convert me one day. She wasn't kidding. FML
Today, I mustered up the courage to visit my estranged mega fundamentalist father to hopefully mend our relationship. The first thing he did was insult me for not having a beard, and call my wife and daughters whores because they weren't wearing long skirts or dresses. FML
Today, my mom got drunk and started crying at my after-wedding party, after promising she'd behave herself. She thinks my husband is an awful person who'll drag me into a life of sin, all because he has a tattoo and an ear piercing. FML
Today, I met my boyfriend's mom for the first time. I introduced myself and went to shake her hand. She looked me up and down and said, "I don't shake hands with whores." FML
Today, my stepfather-to-be yelled at me, insisting I take my nose piercing out, because it will "ruin the wedding photos" since I'm a bridesmaid. It's a tiny diamante stud, no bigger than a small pinhead. He then went on a rant about how I need to respect his authority in the family. I'm 25. FML
Today, my fiancé's mother gave me a beautiful cross necklace to wear for my wedding. I'm Jewish. FML
Today, my mother, her fiancé, and I were having dinner together. My mother was joking that she wasn't sure she could hold him down, as he used to "get around." She turned to talk to the waiter and my future step-father looked me up and down and winked. FML
Today, I met my biological mother for the first time. I also found out from her husband that she has her nipples and nether regions pierced. FML
Today, I met my boyfriend's parents for the first time. His mom stared at me throughout dinner before finally blurting out, "I'm sorry, I can't get past the fact that you look just like his ex!" It turns out I do. FML

Hopefully your mother will stand up for you.

I don't see what your nose stud has to do with religion, this guy sounds like a bit of an ass!

Confused as to how a nose stud has anything to do with religion. Hold your ground, he's a tool.

I'd be like "With all do respect sir, shut up. You are not my father nor will you ever be. My mother lives here so I have complete freedom to come here." Screw that guy...

Tell him to take the stick out of his ass before he speaks to you.

Tell him a mole. And are there any other holes he thinks should not be there? ugh

Are you kidding me? If he's so religious that he can't stand the sight of you wearing a nose ring, he probably shouldn't be living in sin with your mother. Sounds like he should stop being so high and mighty.

Tell him to go **** himself and that you will always be more welcome then he is.

22, I'm so sorry. :( I hope things get better, and if it doesn't, I hope you are able to do well without her.

If he's so concerned about the whole "body is a temple" thing, tell him he should stop drinking alcohol, cutting his hair, shaving, and taking non-herbal medicine, since these are all varying degrees of "modifications."
