Tradwife blues
Today, my husband and I are sick. He keeps whining about how bad he feels. I'm just as sick, as well as 7 months pregnant. I've not only been taking care of his whiny ass: I've cooked, cleaned, and gone to the store several times because the tissues we had were too rough on his nose. FML

Just leave him alone for a few hours and he will realize that life indeed can be tough. Teach him a lesson. If you don't do it now you might never get a second chance.

Good for you for being the bigger person!

Tell him to get over himself or he can start doing your shit for you.

Sounds like you run a tight ship...

Is it really too much to ask for OP's husband to be just a wee bit sympathetic for, like, 6 months out of the rest of their lives together to be considerate of OP's physical state? It's not like she's two weeks pregnant and NOT sick here. I don't know if you've ever been/seen a 7-months-pregnant woman before, but it's not exactly a "Presto!" moment trying to move around or stand up from a sitting position, not to mention the weak bowels and back pain that come with it. Unless he's rendered immobile from puking his guts out, fading in and out of consciousness, and passing out in the bathroom, he's more than capable of driving to the store and picking up some tissues. Seriously, people, he's a married man that happens to be sick; he's not a helpless infant or heavily-pregnant woman.

It's not too much to ask at all. I was suggesting that OP could stand her ground and have her husband do something for himself instead of sitting around complaining. That's all I meant. I can't imagine it's easy to move around when you are 7 months pregnant.

You assume you're as sick as he is, you really have no idea. He could be worse off, he could be more of a whiner, who knows.

If they live together and have the same symptoms she can safely assume she's just as sick as he is AND she's pregnant.

While I don't agree with the sentiment, #18 has a point. My ex-girlfriend had an extremely weak immune system. Whenever I got a little sick, she'd catch whatever I had but get hit ten times harder. However, OP would know something like that, and even if he does have a weak immune system, she's still sick *and* pregnant.

When you're pregnant, you do have a weak immune system. I'm almost eight months pregnant. Even having a sinus cold kills me. He needs to man up and help her out. Its not easy being pregnant.

Are you sure he's the husband and you're not?

Oh yes, the dreaded Man Flu! My suggestion is when you both feel better, you must suddenly come down with all manner of strange pregnancy related cravings, particularly in the middle of the night, which as a good husband he will be honour bound to fulfil. At least he can take the full range of over the counter medications, poor you are limited in what you can take.

Man are the biggest babies when they are sick. I help my Husband to a point but then I let his ass take care of himself.

Completely understand your complaints, OP! During my pregnancy, second to third term, my partner had panic attacks nearly every day for 3 months, he was suffering from anxiety disorder. Whilst I was extremely sympathetic and patient I was still left to do all the shopping, driving, cooking, cleaning, organising everything and going to work every day because he couldn't leave the house. It was absolutely awful and so stressful. Be thankful his man flu won't last forever! Hope the rest of your pregnancy goes smoothly.

You are a trooper... I would have slapped him into next year were I in your shoes.

Yikes! Thankfully if my husband were to end up that ill, whether diabetes, depression, hepatitis or broken legs...we both have relatives that would be right here helping us out. Siblings, parents, even some cousins. Hope he's recovered or has symptoms managed well enough that you're both able to contribute!

Men are always babies when they get sick. This isn't just you. The other ladies reading this know its true.

I don't know why this statement is being down voted, it's 100 percent true, at least in my case it is.
hunteryager 18
Yes, like you said true in your case. But not in all cases. I don't understand this man flu thing. I pull through fine being sick.

I turn into an infant when I can't breath from my nose.

Honestly, I really don't understand the "man flu" thing. If I get sick, it sucks, but I certainly don't act like a wounded puppy because of it. But then again, my brother and father do ...

It has been proven for some time now that men often get sicker than women. This is due to womens immunesystem being stronger than that of men. Why it has evolved this way they are not sure.

I have no idea where your getting your information, but that is not true. It's reversed, women get much sicker than men.
brandoneyez1 25
I didn't say men get sicker, I'm saying when they do they are babies. I know I turn into one myself. All my married friends say the same about their husbands.

when my husband gets sick no one can ever be worse than him even if I'm sick too he's always worse

I hope you're early on in your marriage and can start changing things! If here was the only one sick, it would be lovely and appropriate to take care of him, but considering the circumstances, you should kick his ass out of bed and tell him to man up, and start taking some responsibility.
