Today, a woman in an SUV rolled a stop sign and hit me, resulting in simultaneously twisting my foot in my bike and being knocked into oncoming traffic. Her excuse before I went to the ER? The sun was in her eyes. FML

Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, I was hit by a car speeding through an intersection after the light had already turned red. Still partly blacked out, I crawled onto the sidewalk and I sat down. The woman rolled down her car window and yelled, "Watch where you're going!" as she drove by. FML
Today, I was in a car accident. After screaming at the woman for running into me, I got in my car and drove off. As I was driving away, I was staring her down when I ended up rear-ending the person in front of me. FML
Today, while walking to my car after work, I witnessed some moron who was texting while riding her bike running right into my parked car, resulting in a broken side mirror, a damaged windshield, two dents, and for her, a broken phone and nose. She's threatening to sue me for damages. FML
Today, a car hit me. I didn't get hurt, but someone called 911. The old woman who had hit me got out of the car with no problem to look at me, and gets back into the car. When the police arrive, she pulls out crutches and said I made strange faces and made her hit me. I got blamed. FML
Today, while I was walking to class, I was hit by a car. The driver stopped to let me cross in front of her, started moving again, hit me, and then yelled at me, saying it was my fault for walking in front of her. FML
Today, I was driving when a woman started crossing the street against the light at the upcoming intersection, so I slammed on the brakes and stopped short of hitting her. That's when she intentionally jumped onto my car and started screaming that I had "mowed her down". The cops believed her. FML
Today, I was stopped in traffic when a woman rear-ended me, backed up, and sped off along the shoulder, taking my passenger side mirror with her. FML
Today, I was sent to the hospital after being hit by a car while on my bicycle. The police officer said it was my fault for not looking, even though the car pulled up without looking. I now have a small herniated disc in my neck and abrasions on my thigh. FML
Today, as I was driving home, I saw a woman get hit by a car. I immediately parked on the side of the road to assist her. I called an ambulance and stayed with her until they came to get her, comforting her all the while. When I returned to my car, I found a parking ticket in my windshield. FML
Today, at a red light, an old lady crossing the street fell right in front of my car. I got out of my car to help her. The light turned green and I was still helping the woman to her feet. An officer came by and ticketed me for "impeding the flow of traffic." FML

Someone running a stop sign and hitting you isn't gonna be stopped by you riding in the bike lane... You still have to cross an intersection in a bike lane.

That's a reasonable explanation of how someone could not see a stop sign. Why did you assume she was going to stop before pulling out in front of her? People run stop signs and lights all the time. This accident was caused by the combined mistakes of two shitty operators.

Do you not understand how stop signs work? In my area, there are All eay stop signs and there are stop signs for one side only. If you don't have a stop sign and you're going straight and someone has a stop sign, runs it and hits you, why is it the person's fault who didn't have a stop sign? They had the right of way and no stop sign. I'm making an assumption of course that OP didn't have a stop sign, or that he stopped and went during his turn if he did and that the SUV didn't stop at all even though she just got there.

I understand how they work in theory, and what goes on in the real world. Ten minutes ago, this asshole was tailgating me when I was going exactly the speed limit and when we got to the intersection, it split into two lanes and I came to a full stop to turn left at the stop sign, and the asshole in the SUV turned right without slowing down. You see a vehicle coming from the side, you have to see it slowing or stopping before proceeding and not assuming a piece of sheet metal on a stick is going to be your shield.

Reminds me of all the dash cam videos I see on YouTube. I swear, at least 95% of all accidents are caused by female drivers. I'm a woman and yet I can't stand women drivers. I don't know what it is, but women just can't drive. This woman's excuse is pathetic - I guarantee she was on her phone and not paying attention. That's another huge chunk of how all accidents are caused.

I would push for her license to be revoked. danger to herself and others. if she couldn't see because of the sun. she could have hit her 4 ways and slowed to a stop and pull to the side before hand. this is a bullshit excuse.
