Today, while waiting for a bus, someone started smoking at the bus shelter, which is illegal in my city. I politely asked him to stop smoking, citing the city ordinance. He just cackled and said that if I'm so concerned about the state of my health, I should start by losing 90 pounds. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I was yelled at for smoking at a bus stop, because a woman didn't appreciate me smoking by her children. She did this while waving her own lit cigarette in my face. FML
Today, while I was on the bus to work, a morbidly obese man sat down next to me. When my stop came and I stood up to get off, he just looked at me, said with a smirk, "good luck with that," and went back to reading his paper. I missed my stop. FML
Nutter on the bus
Today, some guy at the bus stop screamed at me because the bus was coming and I wasn’t wearing my mask. I was standing 25 feet from the stop finishing a smoke and there was no one around me. When I sat down on the bus, with my mask on, he stared me down the whole ride. FML
It's not what you think
Today, I walked past a few of my coworkers sitting outside smoking. As I got a whiff of the smoke, I coughed. They immediately started to defend their habit, and I was told to "mind my own fucking business." I wasn't trying to be rude; I'm actually allergic to cigarette smoke. FML
Today, I was walking past a homeless guy while smoking; he asked if he could have a cigarette. So I gave him one and said without thinking, "Sorry, it’s a menthol, but beggars can't be choosers." FML
Get back here
Today, a man in a hurry asked me for a light. Not being able to find my lighter amongst the muddle inside my handbag, I handed him my lit cigarette so he could light his. He took it from me, started smoking it and walked off. FML
Do as I say, not as I do
Today, I was having a cigarette in a smoking area when a mother with a pram strode towards me and exaggerated a cough to make some sort of point. Reluctantly, I put it out and walked off. I then turned around to see her lighting up a cigarette, and blowing smoke all over her baby. FML
Today, I was walking down the street when I had a coughing fit. The next thing I know I'm being pushed about by a group of guys who were smoking, because they thought I was coughing deliberately to send them a message about smoking being bad. FML
Today, a homeless guy tried to light my hair on fire with a match at the bus stop. FML
Today, a stranger had a go at me for smoking while pregnant. I'm a guy. FML

While heart disease does kill more people than lung cancer, that guy was a prick.

Dude probably has a point. I get so tired of people complaining about others harming the by choices others make, yet harm themselves with no regard. Id hazard a guess but your 90 lbs extra weight is likely more detrimental to your long term health than buddy having a smoke.

Sorry but I'm going to go with ydi. Don't quote laws at people, no matter how polite you THINK you're being, it comes off very rude. Next time just simply ask of they could either hold off on smoking or be sure to blow the smoke away from your direction and then claim that you have really bad asthma or something. Most smokers understand why people with asthma says something.

YDI, not for asking if the person would mind extinguishing his cigarette, but for citing the city ordenance. I mean if it was be, being asked politely I would semi-happily put out my smoke. But when lectured about it by city ordenances I would even light a 2nd one out of spite. It's all about how poeple ask things

I wonder if you could Sue somebody for assault with a deadly weapon for that. They have found that the safe quantity of second hand smoke is none. There is not a safe amount to inhale.
