Today, while mowing the lawn, I ran over a hornet's nest. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, while mowing the lawn, I was attacked by an underground hornet nest. I now have many stings, two scared dogs, and a mower still running outside. The hornets are swarming it and some are sitting on the lever, as if to turn it off. It's like they know. FML
Today, while mowing my backyard, I carelessly ran over a fire ant hill. Thousands of tiny stinging insects blowing towards you while you're wearing shorts and a t-shirt is definitely not fun. FML
Lost the fight
Today, I found a hornet's nest in the backyard, so I called my brother over to take a look. He said "Hmm, wonder how fast you can run…" then hurled a rock at the nest and sprinted back to the house. I wasn't so fast. I now feel like someone's beaten me half to death with a cactus. FML
Invasion
Today, I went to clean my roof when something buzzed by my head and a sting hit my neck. It turns out there's a small nest of, like, five hornets just chilling outside of my window. I found a dead one on the desk in my bedroom. FML
Today, I made a joke about my electric lawnmower sounding like a bunch of angry bees. It was verified when I ran over a beehive in my backyard. FML
Today, I was mowing my grandma's lawn when I was suddenly swarmed by bees. When my grandma saw me covered in stings later on, she said, "Oh yeah, there are tons of bees in the grass! Be careful!" FML
Today, while using a portable restroom at the park, I discovered all too late that some very hostile and territorial hornets had made it their home. FML
Spring cleaning
Today, I had to mow the lawn with a weed-whacker because it rained a lot the past week and the push mower was broken. I started "mowing", and forgot that I was mowing where the dogs take dumps, I absentmindedly whacked over dog poop… which got flung into my face. FML
Ouchies
Today, I was stung by a wasp. Startled, I stumbled and grabbed a nearby tree branch to regain my balance. The branch happened to be the location of the wasp's nest, which fell to the ground and split open. The wasps weren't happy. FML
Today, I mowed over a bird while mowing the lawn. It wasn't dead, so I had to mow over it a second time to put it out of its misery. Now there are pieces of dead bird all over my lawn and I can't sleep. FML

That never ends well.

Could be worse, at least it wasn't a tracker jackers' nest

How could you not see a hornets nest on the ground?
MigraineurOfLife 15
Well, unless you have special X-ray vision powers you wouldn't! There is only a small hole in the ground. If it's not active at that time of day, then you wouldn't have a clue!

Did you kill the hornets along with it? Silver lining?

No, but he knows where they live. OP can go back out there, while they're sleeping, with a big can of hornet killer, and finish off the nest.

I thought hornets made best in trees except the yellow jacket.

I was going to say be thankful it wasn't a tracker jacker nest but I see I have been beaten to the punch. On another note, FYL OP.

I did this once. That's how I found out I'm allergic to wasps and hornets.

that's always my excuse so I don't have to mow the lawn and then my brother has to do it :p sometimes allergies are a good thing :p
