Today, wanting to do something nice for my dad, I mowed the lawn. He grounded me for "emasculating" him. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I thought I would surprise my dad by mowing our entire two acre lawn. When he got home, instead of being grateful like I had hoped, he yelled at me for cutting in vertical lines instead of horizontal. FML
Today, I tried fixing my dad's lawnmower after he said, "Girls can't change a lightbulb right, let alone fix a machine." An hour later, when I had the lawnmower running again, he bitched me out for trying to make him "look stupid." He's been sulking and acting pissy ever since. FML
Today, I finally summoned the courage to ask my dad to pay me as he promised, after I cut the lawn and cleaned all the house windows last week. His response was, "Get fucked." FML
Today, my father bought a riding lawn mower. We don't have a lawn. FML
Today, my dad made a big show of sending me to my room and grounding me for a week. Not because he heard me cursing at my video game, but because I "swear like a little girl" and it embarrassed him in front of his friends. FML
Sounds fair enough
Today, my dad came up into my room and told me that as a consequence of breaking my MacBook in anger, he’s punishing me by helping him with yardwork every single hour of the day. FML
Today, I got home late to find my dad outside mowing the lawn in the dark. I told him the neighbors were going to think he lost his marbles for mowing it at that time. He then informed me he wasn't mowing it, he was vacuuming it. FML
Today, my dad yelled at me for being irresponsible while he watched me fold his laundry. FML
Today, my dad grounded me for not having any friends. FML
Try to do a nice thing…
Today, I mowed our lawn without being asked. My sister wouldn't stop yelling at me for not checking with her, because she wanted the grass to get long enough to "play jungle" in. My mom sided with her. FML

Parents are weird. They complain when you don't do any work around the house. Then they complain when you do.

"Quit your bitching and go make me a sandwich, dad!!"

And now you have something to hang over his head when he asks you to do something. "What's that? You want me to do some chore? How do I know it wont "emasculate" you?"

You did a good thing, and your dad is an immature ass. I hate the stories in here involving parents who ground their kids for something relating to the parent's own feelings of insecurity - there was a story about a girl who had bought her mom a gift, but when the mother picked her up and demanded to know what was in her bag and she wouldn't show, the mother grounded her. Seriously. I'm not a fan of grounding, but it should at the very least be used in cases of actual bad behavior.

That's stupid. Sounds like your dad is a jerk. Guess you don't have to go out of your way to help around the house anymore.

Did he say "BWAAAH!" when he saw it?

Lol, work it to your advantage. Remind him of this every time he asks you to do a chore for him afterwards.

A real man can wear pink, cook, clean, and whatever else he feels like doing because a real man doesn't care what people say. Love me, hate me but at least get to know me before judging me, I'm not being an asshole just saying a man can do whatever without feeling like a bitch because honestly what's so bad about helping your woman out or being helped say thank you sweetheart and make everyone's day,

By claiming that you emasculated him, he only proved that he's got no masculinity in the first place.
