Today, someone stole my coat. I can only imagine their surprise when they find the $3,000 engagement ring I bought earlier. FML
Collection
Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I found the $3,200 engagement ring I dropped in my yard. I ran over it with my lawnmower. FML
Today, I found out my boyfriend was going to propose. He'd bought me a beautiful white gold ring that I never got to see. His estranged mom stole the ring. FML
Today, I went to a jeweler's to buy a ring to propose to my girlfriend. When I was at the restaurant, in mid-proposal, with people watching, I realized I had left the ring in the store. FML
Today, my engagement ring was seized by the police, and my fiancé was arrested on larceny charges. Both in the same visit. FML
Today, I saw a picture of my ex giving her new boyfriend an extremely familiar ring. Upon zooming in, I realized that it was the engagement ring I gave her that she claimed to have had stolen from her home. FML
Today, I found out that my engagement ring was actually my husband's ex-fiancée's. FML
Today, I got home early from work at 2am to find my girlfriend of 5 years missing. Upon further inspection, I caught the "other man" dropping her off out front. So much for the engagement ring I bought for her. FML
Sketchy move
Today, I went to see a hockey game. The announcer asked if anybody found a ring in the stands, because a girl lost hers. While he talked about it, I realised that I forgot mine in my pocket, so I took MY ring and put it on my finger. A guy saw me and thought I stole the lost one. FML
Today, I realized my wedding ring was missing. Turns out, my son had taken it to give to a girl he likes in the second grade. FML
Today, the police called because someone had turned in my wallet that was stolen. I happily drove home only to find that my house had been robbed and ransacked. FML

Oh man, I hope you got insurance on the ring. That certainly sucks.

I don't know, does the jeweler normally offer insurance when you buy a ring?
devildog562 33
Damn I didn't even see this when I posted . Yes they do offer insurance and usually registration! Diamond often have laser inscribed serial numbers .

Well OP should try to explain to the lucky girl/guy that the ring got stolen, I'm sure they'll understand
TanzWolf 26
Ouch... D: hopefully you can get something back!
sayyestothedress 24
How is it an "ouch"? His coat got stolen, not his kidney
TanzWolf 26
Quit being literal.

Did it have your wallet/I.D. in it too? If so, hopefully they have the kindness to return it.

If they are prude enough to steal a coat, I don't think they are going to give it back.
slyde32 12
I don't think theives will have the kindness to do that. "hey mate, I stole your jacket earlier, found your wallet, here you can have it back, just wanted the jacket"
isisorchid 16
Prude doesn't mean what you think it means.
VeganDarkLight 31
I think you meant rude?
iAmPaul 49
Well, I guess I shouldn't have expected the Canadian thing to do from an American FML.
AnOriginalName 19
Maybe "prude" is what 11 is going for. Maybe the thief saw someone walking around with not enough clothes on, and the best solution was to borrow a coat to give to that person. The only problem is that OP was unaware that the coat is just being borrowed.

21-yea slip of the thumb, didn't read it over.

#4 Hey dipshit, people steal stuff in Canada too.
mmcewen 15
Why didn't you chase them?
RedPillSucks 33
Perhaps the coat was stolen from wherever it was stored, like a coat room, and not where he could see it.

If I had anything valuable in my jacket I would no way let it out of my sight. The same with my bag.

Sorry OP! I hope you can do something about it. Good side of it is that hopefully you'll have a great story to tell to our grandchildren.
cadillacgal79 32
36-I think she meant "your" but hey, you never know.

You left something valuable in an unattended coat?! Idiot!!
Geeve95 11
You're not helping a$$ wipe.
VeganDarkLight 31
Who says that he left the coat unattended? There's no information about the circumstances in the FML, so why do you jump to conclusions and call him an idiot?
xxreikoxx 31
#9, you're an idiot for even taking the time to call OP an idiot and making assumptions.
iwadasn 33
For all you know, he could have been holding the coat and someone snatched it out of his hand.
Geeve95 11
That sucks! Hope the police catch the thief and hope your engagement goes well! Good luck OP.
