Today, one of my ears randomly went deaf. I went to the doctor, thinking I had an ear infection or something. Turns out that your ears can go deaf entirely without reason, and I now have medication to take to see if I can get any of my hearing back in that ear. I'm only 26. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Hello?
Today, I woke up completely deaf, for no reason. My doctor told me my hearing loss, "could possibly be permanent." I’m a composer. FML
Growing old sucks
Today, I went to have my ears cleaned out because I’ve been experiencing signs of deafness. Guess what? My ears were already clear. I need hearing aids. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve lost my hair, some of my sight, and some teeth, so yeah, why not my hearing at this point… FML
Ewwwwww
Today, my excruciating ear pain turned out to be a bastard maggot eating away at all the vital things behind my eardrum. The doctor pulled it out, but I’m now permanently deaf in that ear and can’t balance. I fall if I try to stand or walk further than 5 feet. FML
What?
Today, I went to a doctor's appointment to figure out why I've suddenly started going deaf. As it turns out, for some reason my ears now produce wax at an alarmingly fast rate. "Enough to make an entire candle before long if you save it up," the doctor said when she cleared them out. I guess this is my life now. FML
What?
Today, something blocked my ear. I couldn't get it out, so I went to Urgent Care so I didn't pop my eardrums. Turns out my allergies made my ears stop draining. After they rinsed my ears, I can now hear almost nothing. FML
Today, I was working at a daycare. There was a 6-year-old boy pretending to be my doctor, holding a little, plastic thermometer. He then, without warning, quickly shoved it deep into my ear. The last thing I heard was his giggle. I think I'm deaf. FML
Healthcare is a human right
Today, I was yelled at by my mom because I didn't hear her. I'm only 16, but I swear, to some extent, I'm losing my hearing, I don't even know what from. I've told her this, but she can't hear out of one ear, so of course it wouldn't feel real. I do feel bad about it, but I haven't heard her every time this has happened. FML
Today, my right ear drum ruptured. My family doesn't understand that I only lost hearing in one ear and continues to talk about me behind my back, thinking I can't hear them. FML
What?
Today, I found out that my hearing is average for a 60-year-old. I'm 30. FML
Don't go to Sunn O))) concerts, kids
Today, my doctor told me that the intense, non stop ringing in my ears, which started suddenly at the beginning of the year, has no cure, no treatment options, and I just need to learn to live with it. I have severe auditory sensory issues, and have barely been getting by. I don't know what to do. FML

Hey, there's a great Deaf community here. You're not alone, and you'll love it here. :)

This happened to me once I was shiting myself didn't know what to do I was home by myself and I'm only 14 years old. I just put a ear bud in there and it stopped.

You should start learning sign language in case you go deaf in the other ear. Plus sign language is very useful.

That sucks man! However, I'm 19 and have permanent hearing loss in my right ear - don't feel shame in your age or disabilities, don't let them define you and definitely take pride that you're alive! Best of luck!

Aww that sucks, same thing happened to me. Hopefully you will be able to regain most of your hearing like I did. Best of wishes!

Yep. I'm only 15. I'm deaf in my left ear. that's exactly what happened to me. I now wear a hearing aid and have hearing electronic devices everywhere around my house and school.

I went deaf in one ear in high school for three months too. Worse was when my optic nerve palsied and I went blind in one eye. That took six months to resolve.

I'm trying to see how I can put this without smelling fishy, but from here it's touch and go; don't let that bitter taste in your mouth linger. Here, I'll lend you an ear, now tell me all about it!
