Today, my mother and I went to a meeting at my school about a camping trip the students in my grade will be going on. When the time to ask questions came, my mother raised her hand and loudly asked, "What if my child is on their period during the trip?" FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I got my period at school. I didn't notice until a boy asked me if I'd killed someone in my pants. FML
Today, I was mad at my mother. Why? We went to parent-teacher interviews, and she told my math teacher that she should allow bathroom breaks because I have a "very heavy menstrual flow." My teacher suggested I eat more red meat. They got into a seven-minute argument about this. FML
Today, I called my mom to tell her that I finally got my period. There was an awkward pause. She was at work. I was on speakerphone. FML
Wrong end of the stick
Today, while teaching my kindergarten class, I had a feeling I was starting my period again. A boy in the class asked me what a period was. Stressing over my own, I briefly told him it's a woman's time of the month when they have mood swings. He was asking about the dot at the end of a sentence. FML
Sex Ed has failed a lot of people
Today, a senior girl in my college-level biology course asked our professor what periods are like when you’re pregnant. FML
Great, thanks, I hate you
Today, my family and I attended a pool party. I never learned to swim, so I didn't bring a suit. When someone asked why I wasn't in the pool, my sister replied in a loud voice, "She's on her period and didn't want the pool to get dirty!" Thanks. FML
Today, during my boyfriend's family reunion, I started my period but didn't have any tampons. I asked my boyfriend to ask his mom if she had any. I sat on the toilet waiting, then heard him loudly ask his whole family, "Does anybody have a tampon my girlfriend can have?" FML
Today, at a public restroom, I caught my extremely eco-friendly daughter, who was on her period, looking through the trash. When I asked why, she said, "Because I'm looking for pads to use. It'll mean less garbage." I then had to lecture her in the public restroom about health and hygiene. FML
Unexpected
Today, my stepdaughter unexpectedly got her first period during a visit. I explained everything to her, then took her to the store to buy supplies and snacks. Her mother called and cussed me out for “stealing” this experience from her. Yeah I totally planned it to happen this way. FML
They grow up so fast
Today, my daughter said she would never ever have kids because then she'll bleed through her vagina or get stitches on her stomach. She turned 7 last week and learnt this at school from friends. I'm yet to have the "periods" talk with her. Now I'm scared to start it. FML

She has a point. Watch out for bears.

That reminds me of my dad... He always grabs "feminine products" in the grocery store and yells loudly to my sisters "Do you need any more of these?!" just to embarrass them.

Once I was on my period at camp, the whole week, it stopped on the last day! It wasn't the best timing, but I still had fun! I hope you have fun OP!

Why would she say "their period?" It obviously has to be "her period." This annoys me.

I read that and cringed. I hate bad grammar...
RedPillSucks 33
It's not really bad grammar. It's an older style (archaic) form where "their" is a generic genderless pronoun.

#69-- Isn't it the other way around? I thought that the use of "they" as a singular gender-neutral pronoun was a recent convention...
RedPillSucks 33
Google to the rescue???
conqueror57 11
It's a newer convention (and still incorrect) to use they/their as gender neutral. Before, "he/his/him was the gender neutral pronoun. In either case, this isn't a gender neutral subject, which is my point.

Post 'their' a possession word?
rockwind_ 5
Isn't*
conqueror57 11
Yes, it's a possessive pronoun, meaning "to belong to two or more people." (Lately used incorrectly to mean "belonging to a person of unknown gender" because the the only gender neutral singular possessive pronoun is "its", and people don't like using "it" to refer to other people.)

Be glad you dont wet the bed OP. I was at a meeting once with my kids about a class trip and a mom asked the question about her son's bedwetting and whether they will make sure he is "protected" at night, this was in front of every other kid that was going.

Wow, some parents are either totally oblivious, or just ******* cruel.

It always amazes me how when some people become parents, they completely forget what it's like to be the kid.

Sorry OP. I know you felt like crawling under your desk, out the door, running away & relocating multiple states away all in 0.001 seconds! Ugh!

Okay, that's really embarrassing, but your mom was at least looking out for you.
GarysMom725 10
And she used that exact phrase? I'd have been more embarrassed at the misuse of grammar.
