Today, my mother and I went to a meeting at my school about a camping trip the students in my grade will be going on. When the time to ask questions came, my mother raised her hand and loudly asked, "What if my child is on their period during the trip?" FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I got my period at school. I didn't notice until a boy asked me if I'd killed someone in my pants. FML
Today, I was mad at my mother. Why? We went to parent-teacher interviews, and she told my math teacher that she should allow bathroom breaks because I have a "very heavy menstrual flow." My teacher suggested I eat more red meat. They got into a seven-minute argument about this. FML
Today, I called my mom to tell her that I finally got my period. There was an awkward pause. She was at work. I was on speakerphone. FML
Wrong end of the stick
Today, while teaching my kindergarten class, I had a feeling I was starting my period again. A boy in the class asked me what a period was. Stressing over my own, I briefly told him it's a woman's time of the month when they have mood swings. He was asking about the dot at the end of a sentence. FML
Sex Ed has failed a lot of people
Today, a senior girl in my college-level biology course asked our professor what periods are like when you’re pregnant. FML
Great, thanks, I hate you
Today, my family and I attended a pool party. I never learned to swim, so I didn't bring a suit. When someone asked why I wasn't in the pool, my sister replied in a loud voice, "She's on her period and didn't want the pool to get dirty!" Thanks. FML
Today, during my boyfriend's family reunion, I started my period but didn't have any tampons. I asked my boyfriend to ask his mom if she had any. I sat on the toilet waiting, then heard him loudly ask his whole family, "Does anybody have a tampon my girlfriend can have?" FML
Today, at a public restroom, I caught my extremely eco-friendly daughter, who was on her period, looking through the trash. When I asked why, she said, "Because I'm looking for pads to use. It'll mean less garbage." I then had to lecture her in the public restroom about health and hygiene. FML
Unexpected
Today, my stepdaughter unexpectedly got her first period during a visit. I explained everything to her, then took her to the store to buy supplies and snacks. Her mother called and cussed me out for “stealing” this experience from her. Yeah I totally planned it to happen this way. FML
They grow up so fast
Today, my daughter said she would never ever have kids because then she'll bleed through her vagina or get stitches on her stomach. She turned 7 last week and learnt this at school from friends. I'm yet to have the "periods" talk with her. Now I'm scared to start it. FML

She has a point. Watch out for bears.

That reminds me of my dad... He always grabs "feminine products" in the grocery store and yells loudly to my sisters "Do you need any more of these?!" just to embarrass them.

Obviously you just take a protection (if I may recommend a DivaCup - perfect for camping) and some painkillers if you need them. Your mother doesn't sound very smart or considerate.

OP, don't use a Diva Cup unless you want to get blood all over your fingers.

Do your hands melt when you wash them? It's just blood. No big deal.
goldfishgod 20
No, but if tampons and pads are so cumbersome for the OP that she'd choose a Diva Cup, she likely won't like to get blood all over your fingers. I don't know about you, but I don't want to be fingering around in my bloody ****** while I'm supposed to be off roasting marshmallows.

@55, You don't get blood on your fingers with a cup. The rim creates a seal which prevents any leaks, and to remove it you just pinch the bottom, pull it down, tilt it slightly and pull it out. The whole time you're just touching the outside of the cup. Even if you were to get blood on your fingers, so what? It's from your own body, it's not gross and you can just wipe/wash it off. It's still much better and safer than other methods.

The really embarrassing thing is that the OP is a boy.

Ouch. But seriously, if it's in grizzly country, stay home.

I had the same problem. Except I'm a boy.

Is this when you found out you were born a hermaphrodite and your parents had to choose?
