Today, my mother and I got into an argument, and she told me to go to my room. I refused, prompting her to slap the shit out of me. I'm 29, and she was visiting me at my own house. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Isn't it ironic, don't you think?
Today, my mom complained that I was being too loud, and she smacked my head really hard. All while screaming at me. FML
WTF mom?
Today, I came home at 1 am to find my mom sitting on my couch, ranting about how I'm not supposed to stay up this late. I'm 26 and I don't know how she got into my house. FML
Today, my mother stormed into my room shouting about how I never go anywhere and then tells me to go out "NOW" and do something. As she is pushing me out the door, her boyfriend walks in. FML
You gotta be kidding me?
Today, my mom scolded me and threatened to ground me for coming home past midnight. Normally, it wouldn't be unreasonable, except for the fact that I'm 24 years-old, and that my parents live with me, in my own house. FML
Today, I visited my family. Over the course of 2 hours, my brother punched me, and my mom slapped me across the face after drinking way too much wine. When I started gathering my things to leave, my mom started crying about how I don't visit enough. FML
Ironic, isn't it?
Today, I got into an argument with my mother, when she snapped and called me a son of a bitch. I said that made no sense, because I'm a girl, and it'd only really confirm that she's a bitch. She then grounded me for insulting her. FML
Roll with it
Today, my mom rolled up the car window on my fingers. She thought my yelling and crying was because I was throwing a tantrum. I'm 26. FML
Today, my dad and I got into an argument, and he ended up calling me a son of a bitch. My mom heard and started arguing with him over him calling her a bitch. Three hours later, I'm now staying at my gran's house with my mom and hoping her threats of a divorce weren't for real. FML
WORRIED
Today, I was woken up at 11:30 am by my mother standing over my bed, screaming at me. I'm 30 years-old, married, and do not live with her. She broke into my house because I didn't answer my phone, because I'm sick and on prescription sleep meds. WTF? FML
Childlike
Today, during an argument between me and my boyfriend, he called for his mom. She came up and told us both off and told us to stop screaming, as if we were kids. We are both well over 30. FML

Um, she can leave. You do NOT get slapped in your own house.

NO way in hell would I let someone slap me in my own house. That's just NOT right.

I hope you sent her to her house? FYL, some moms just... love you too much in their own special way :-

I'm curious to know what the argument was about that prompted her outburst. Slapping is not on! I hope she wasn't that abusive when you were a child..

Slapping isn't abusive, unless used excessively it really just discipline, kids can take a little of that...
purebliss_fml 19
Actually, slapping is abusive and a terrible way to discipline. It causes the recipient to fear you instead of learn from you and understand you through communication.

Hitting works, don't get me wrong. For the parent anyway... it's detrimental to the children. It doesn't matter if you do it once or daily, it's never ok. Physical striking as a disciplinary method is a risk factor (not causal) to mental disorders, but more to the point, it's a clear indicator that you lack self control. Kids rarely do something bad enough that, if they were an adult, you would strike them. Yet so often people strike children, because kids can't fight back.

A little smack on their bottom if they do something dangerous doesn't hurt. That is not abuse. Hitting a child too hard or anywhere else on their body is abuse. This information was given to me by my friend, a child protection services agent.

Exactly. The bottom is also cushy - you're not very likely to hit anything vital. Slapping across on the face is a completely to different story

Throw her ass out of your house.
olpally 33
Falcon Punch her in the stomach and take control of your house! Don't allow her over.

Seems warranted here seeing as how op has a place of their own and the mother is just being a complete psycho bitch for no reason. Her mother has no right to do that.

Wow I can't believe how over the line this is! Stand up to her before she does this in front of your guests or worse, your own children!
