Today, my mom found out that I've been having counselling behind her back for the past 4 years. I broke down in tears explaining everything. Her response was, "So you go and bitch about me behind my back?!" And she wonders why I'm depressed. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Compassion
Today, I found out the reason my mom took over 9 months to get me a therapist and much needed help after I told her how I had been depressed and suicidal for over two months. It wasn't because it was hard to find one, but actually because she thought I was making it up to cushion the fact that I got a C in a class. FML
Stay mad
Today, my mother is upset that I won’t share things with her anymore. This is the woman who spent my entire childhood gossiping about every teeny tiny detail of my life, and used my suicide attempt as a way to garner pity for herself. Yeah, no thanks. FML
Let it out
Today, I finally convinced my mum to take me to a psychologist. As soon as he sat me down and asked me how I was doing, my mum burst into tears and went on a rant about how her life is terrible and she regrets everything. I was asked to sit in the waiting room. She used up my whole hour. FML
Thanks for being so compassionate
Today, and for the past year, I've been struggling with depression because of family life. I've been talking to my mom for the past weeks, telling her things that happen when she isn't home as a way to build trust. I finally told her I have depression and have had had it for a long time. She laughed. FML
Get away from me
Today, my mother snapped and took her frustrations out on me. Whenever she has a problem with other family members, it falls on me because she can't show them her true face to them. And she wonders why I hide away all the time… FML
Main character syndrome
Today, my mom found out I’m in therapy and took it as an insult, like therapy was a criticism of her parenting. Um, maybe if she hadn’t spent my childhood telling me and everyone in our family that having me was an accident, that I’ve been a huge burden, and that she should have aborted me. FML
Support system error
Today, I was invited to a counseling group for people with emotional problems. I brought the permission slip home for my mom to sign, only for her to accuse me of being a hypochondriacal, lazy, selfish bitch. And my friends wonder why I have problems. FML
What did she do now?
Today, I found out that my husband, who I've just separated from, and my mother, who I don't speak to because she's crazy, have been bitching about me behind my back. FML
Today, my mother told me to 'quit having a pity party'. I was just diagnosed with depression. I've lost my boyfriend, my job, my academic standing, and I just got rejected from every graduate school I applied for. And my mother thinks I'm a cry baby. Great. FML
Thoughts and prayers
Today, my mom sent me to a counselor she knew "through the church" so that I could get some stressors off my chest. Worst idea ever. This "counselor" invalidated everything I had to say and basically told me to pray the issues away, all while completely ignoring me. FML

The point of counciling is penting and getting better, she should be happy for you..

That's so horrible. Your mom needs to realise that you need to get yourself better so that you are able to deal with her bull.

Going and writing about something like that on an app like this is the reason your mother would say something like that. Kids nowadays don't talk to their parents and instead seek out advice from their peers.

I'm not surprised. There are a lot of parents who make it all about them and not their kid when their kid tells them when something is wrong. Making your kids problems about you will only make them not want to tell you stuff.

The fact that there are over 2,000 YDIs on this is heartbreaking...

If she lives at home under her mother's roof and does this kind of thing behind her mother's back, a YDI is more than appropriate.

Mothers are the travel agents for guilt trips.

Sounds like my mother. I could use some counseling as well thanks to her.

Sadly, I was in a similar situation but my parents knew about the counciling. It's ironic that they claim you can go to them with your problems, but then make you feel like shit about them and just act more angry.

I feel you 300%. The first time I came out and told my mom I'm depressed and that I need help she yelled at me and stormed out of the room.

The fact that anyone, anyone at all, could say that you deserve this, is mind bogglingly stupid. And clearly they have no ******* clue what you're talking about or going through. Stay strong. It'll get better.

I hope everything turns out ok. I hope that you two can work things out.
