Today, my long-distance boyfriend wanted to spend time online with me. He kept quiet on Skype and went on a hundred different stupid websites, laughing by himself. Afterwards, he told me he really enjoyed our time together. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I was video chatting my boyfriend. As we were talking, he answered a phone call. I sat there the whole time as he planned a date with some other girl over the phone. FML
Thanks for noticing
Today, my long-distance boyfriend was at my house for a 10-day visit. He told me that we'd never spent so much time together, so he didn't know me well and now, he'd finally met the "real me". He doesn't like it. FML
Today, my long-distance boyfriend got extremely drunk and insisted that we left the Skype call on all night so it was like I was there with him. I woke up to the sound of him vomiting loudly at 3am. FML
Today, my boyfriend took me on a romantic weekend away at a hotel. What is he doing now? On his computer looking up stuff on Craigslist while I am watching t.v. alone. FML
Caught in 4K
Today, it's been a week since I flew down to stay with my long-distance boyfriend. We went on long walks on the shore, under the stars, and had an unforgettable picnic viewing the sunset. I just now received a message of screenshots displaying him attempting to hook up with another girl. FML
Priorities
Today, I wanted to spend some time with my girl, but she was more interested in her phone and 90 Day Fiancé. Bored, I went to play video games. Ten minutes later, she came looking for me and yelled that I clearly prefer video games to her. FML
Today, I saw that my ex-boyfriend was online and had no plans. I felt extreme happiness knowing he had no life. Then I realized that I was online and had no plans. FML
Forever alone
Today, all I wanted was to spend some time with my husband, since we're always very busy. He couldn't be bothered to put down his video game. Guess I'm forever alone, even in a relationship. FML
A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do
Today, my boyfriend and I broke up. He said it was because he wanted to 'do his own thing'. So gaming 24/7 like he has for the past two years of our relationship, then. FML
Today, I was on Skype with the guy I like. After a while of being on Facebook I forgot I was on webcam to him and started picking my nose. He ended the call. FML

Did you communicate that that wasn't what you had in mind? If not, YDI for not understanding this well-known difference between guys and girls. The fact that he thanked you shows the time you'd just spent "together" online was very meaningful for him—and exactly what he was looking for. Trust me, most guys can do something in the general proximity of someone else and then walk away feeling it as having been a bonding time. Go talk about it with him.

Me and my boyfriend do this all the time! It would be kinda of weird to just stare at each other intently and talk... I'm sure he pays attention to you, other wise, he wouldn't of even wanted to go on cam.

I had a long distance bf at 16 and when he started IMing people while we were on the phone it was the beginning of the end. In the 11 years since then he's tried to get back with me more than once, and (for other reasons) I've realized he's always been kindof a loser. My current bf is also long distance (although not for much longer! hooray!) and he makes sure I always feel loved and involved with his life, beginning with actually paying attention when we're on the phone/skype. Moral of the story: if he doesn't know how to invest his attention into time spent with you, teach him! but if he doesn't *care* enough to do so, ditch him--and don't waste too many tears, sweetheart.

long distance relationships are incredibly hard, so if you're going to attempt to make it work, make sure the guy is worth the effort. otherwise in the end it's all a huge FAIL and you could've spent all that time with someone worthwhile.

i clicked YDI because your in a long distance relationship. unless its someone you knew and dated before it became a long distance thing, its stupid. and lazy. get off your computer and find someone in the real world.

Sometimes that's not always possible, #58 - I've looked in the "real world" for years and never found anyone worth keeping. I never found anyone who loved me enough to bother to get to know me until he and I started really talking. We've been friends online for years and years and just in the last few months things have blossomed. Long-distance relationships actually require a LOT more work and effort than you think, especially if there are time zone differences to consider. Oh, and you used the wrong "your". You meant "you are", so you should have used the contraction, "you're", not the possessive "your". FYI.

oooooooohhhhhh. ever hear of a typo? ever misuse a word before? friggin sue me. my point was, online dating is just as useless as dating someone over xbox live, if you never have actually met the person and had been dating before it became an electronic thing. personally, i enjoy spending actual time with any woman i date, even if it's just a dinner date or a movie or hanging out around the apartment(a.k.a., not just sex, for all of you who were about to tell me that i was sad for basing my relationships on sex.) I think that even texting is impersonal, for the most part. having a long distance, online relationship is for 14 year olds and 46 year old balding men with creepy comb-overs, glasses, and beer guts who are trying to pick up 14 year olds.

Oh, what a douche you are! Seriously, just because it is different from your relationship preferences doesn't mean it is 'for 14 year olds or 46 year olds with creepy combovers' I'm a 21 year old college student that had a purely online relationship at 15, and two partially online at 19 and 20/21 respectively - and will likely continue my currently partially online for a long while, or at least until the both of us go together on my longer trips (if, of course, that ever does occur)

Reading this makes me eternally grateful that my long-distance boyfriend is as amazing as he is. He takes time to actually talk to me when we're on skype. *hugs* Sorry about yours, though... :(
