Today, my brother's life was ripped apart. His wife has chosen to no longer be his wife and is trying to keep his dog as well. My brother has always been proud of his family and hopeful for the future. He will spring back, but this came out of left field. FML
Today, I told to my girlfriend of 5 years that I'm depressed about having no friends, no job and a difficult family life. I told her that she's the one constant that keeps me going. She decided this was a good time to break up with me to "find" herself, since I was being so mopey. FML
Today, my girlfriend of three and half years broke up with me, just after I'd finished fixing up her house, which took me about three and a half years. FML

I am so sorry for your loss OP. I know what you are going through. My sister just passed this February and it is a every day struggle. Take all the time you need to grieve him, there is absolutely no time frame on the amount of time one should grieve.

"Allow" is used as a way of saying "Go away" or "get rid of", actually it doesn't have an easy description. People will say "allow doing exercise" because they don't want to do it. It's a British thing that appeared a few years ago and didn't really catch on with many people. So, #8 is pretty much just saying "**** that bitch, you're better off without her" ^^

If she has been with OP for five years and if she was completely invested, then she would be mourning right along with him. I'd think by then that OP's family would feel like family to her. So obviously she wasn't that invested in the relationship, that is incredibly sad.
