Today, my father went out to get batteries for the remote control helicopter I bought him for Christmas. In his excitement, he backed his truck into my car. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Two in one
Today, I accidentally crashed my mom's car into my dad's car. FML
Move, bitch! Get out the way!
Today, my dad ran over my foot with his work truck. FML
Alexa, play "Your Daddy's Car" by The Divine Comedy
Today, I borrowed my dad's car to run a quick errand, which he never lets me do. I thought I’d got away with it until he got home and started yelling. I forgot, dad always reverses into driveways, while I prefer to drive straight in, and I'd parked his car facing the wrong way. FML
McSteamy
Today, I illicitly borrowed my dad's car to go to the store, but crashed into my mom's car as she and dad were returning from my grandma's house. Both cars are totalled, my mom is in hospital with a broken collarbone, and I realised dads really can make steam come out their ears if they’re really mad. FML
Probably for the best
Today, I bought some new LED underglow lights for underneath my car. I was putting them on when my dad came out, insisted on taking over, and then proceeded to break them. FML
Today, I helped my dad push our broken-down truck from the driveway onto the tire ramp. Truck didn't make it; neither did my leg. FML
Today, my dad moved my car onto the street so he wouldn't accidentally back into it while moving our boat. My neighbor backed into it instead. FML
Today, I came home to find my dad had backed into my already crappy car. The reason they didn't buy me a nicer car in the first place was they were afraid I'd wreck it. FML
Today, my father took me out for some driving lessons. I accidentally reversed while still in the driveway, and I instinctively hit the brakes. In my panic, I accidentally let go of the brakes, and ended up reversing straight into our house, all while my father yelled "NOOOOOO!" FML
The road to hell…
Today, I was trying to do a nice thing and let my friend's mom borrow my car. I went to move my mom's car that was parked behind me so that I could get my car out, and then proceeded to back into my dad's new company car. FML

I pretty much agree. You always get them the batteries. It's just polite.

Lawled. You're probably insured, so in 5 years, this'll be a funny story.

He can't drive and you get him a helicopter toy? He'll be chopping off heads round the neighborhood for weeks!

If you buy someone a battery-operated present, you should buy them the batteries to go with it. It's not exactly polite to get them something that requires them to go out and buy something just so it works. That's like giving someone half a jigsaw and then expecting them to buy the other half. (Unless perhaps it was already quite an expensive present and you know they want it so much they'd be happy to buy the batteries for it.)

It took me years to learn this. Now we don't bother about such toys, we just give the batteries. Can't afford both toys AND batteries.

So the thought of politeness never crossed your mind? Always buy the batteries as well. It's not like you put "Batteries not included" on the gift wrapper No wonder you're from New Jersey......

Golden Rule: Always buy presents that you really want for yourself. It makes Christmas so much easier. Next year he will really want a lovely red jacket size 4, or an expensive handbag. Or one of those women's toys that need batteries.
