Today, my 7 year old daughter decided to use my laptop without my permission. She accidentally got SpaghettiOs on the screen, then used the hard side of a sponge, filled with soapy water, to scrub both the keyboard and screen of my laptop to clean it off so Mommy wouldn't know. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, my 3 year old daughter decided to put black nail polish over the webcam lens on my laptop because "It wasn't all black, so I decided to fix it." FML
Today, I received my new laptop in the mail and put it on the kitchen counter, where my family charges all our electronics. My mom then decided to make soup and spilt chicken broth all over my new laptop before I even got the chance to turn it on. FML
Today, my friend spilt orange juice all over my iPad. She then went ahead to clean it off by rinsing it with water. FML
Today, I let my mother use my computer for school work. Later that day my mom asks me what's wrong with the computer. I look at it, only seeing a "Welcome to Windows XP" screen. She said that she saw a blue screen and pressed L and C when it asked her to. My mom managed to clear my hard drive. FML
Today, I decided to be healthy and drink a tall glass of water whilst doing my assignment that is due in three days. I managed to spill the entire glass over my laptop. I flipped it over and used a hairdryer to dry it off. While doing that, I managed to melt my keyboard. FML
Today, I managed to accidentally drop an entire cake on my laptop's keyboard. There's so much frosting stuck under the keys, I have no idea how I'm going to clean it out. FML
So sweet
Today, I was washing dishes while my 2-year-old was napping… or so I thought. When I finished and went to check on her, I found she'd taken off her diaper and smeared poop all over the carpet. She must have been up a while because it was everywhere. I spent the next hour scrubbing. FML
Little helper
Today, my 10-year-old "helped" me by “fixing” the parental controls on the iPad. I didn’t ask for help. Now it won’t let me access email, news, or even Google, but it will let me watch 47 hours of baby cartoons. I've been locked out of my own device by someone who can’t eat spaghetti without ruining a shirt. FML
Take them back to the shop
Today, after a night of back pain, fatigue, and wrestling with my crying, screaming son, who couldn’t sleep, I woke up to find my laptop wouldn’t power on because my daughter spilled ice cream on it. I need my laptop for my new job. FML
Can't take my eyes off you
Today, I babysat my niece and thought a quick shower would be fine. I left her watching cartoons with a blanket and returned to find she’d used washable paints on the carpet and her hands, leaving tiny colorful footprints to the couch. Her proud smile made me forgive the mess, but I spent the evening scrubbing. FML

I guess you shouldn't have left it in her reach, or her unattended with it, if she couldn't be trusted to be obey you. I hope you're teaching her a lesson about honesty and obedience here! That said, sorry about your laptop. :/

And in instances like these, you spank your child. OR talk to them strictly and make sure they get it through their hard head to obey their parents.

She 7 years old and already knows to cover up the evidence at a crime scene. Since your from Jersey, the kid has a promising future in politics or the mob. Or both.

sucks for you. but I would have to say YDI for not teaching your kid the value of stuff and that they should never use what's not theirs without permission.

Don't worry, just get the child back by having it walk in on you having sex with your husband/boyfriend/gigalo.

Seriously? Kids will be kids... they aren't mindless vessels, filled only with what their parents tell them. They have minds of their own. I bet after this whole mess the daughter will have learned her lesson though :/ Doesn't mean that the OP is a bad mother! Seriously, do you even have kids? Even if you do, you don't have any authority to tell the OP how to raise hers.

Gotta agree with all the posters saying the mom should have taught the kid better. I worked at a daycare, where there were computers in our classroom (with educational games and what not). The children were told several times that 1) they were to always ask permission to use the computers, and 2) food or drink are not permitted anywhere NEAR the computers. We never had a problem, and our kids were all between 4 and 5 years old, so OP's daughter was more than likely old enough to understand these concepts as well. Yeah kids will be kids, but kids can also be taught to respect their parents' wishes. And you don't even have to touch 'em! I was never hit/spanked/whatever, but I still knew better than to touch my parents' belongings without their permission.

YDI for not putting a password on the computer. My parents had a computer on ours and I couldn't get on without them typing it in for me.
