Today, I went to the hospital in labor expecting a baby boy. I ended the day with identical twins, a baffled doctor, and a husband convinced that our sons can clone themselves. FML

Today, I went to my first ultrasound appointment. The daughter I was hoping for is actually going to be boy triplets. FML
Today, one of my twin sons found out he's going to be a dad. His little sister who loves science ended up telling him that, since he has a twin who is genetically identical, he's genetically the baby's dad too. My son, being a bit dim, took this to mean his brother slept with his wife and hit him. FML
Today, I announced my fourth pregnancy, this time with twins. I heard my mother mutter, “Finally two kids from the same dad.” FML
Today, after we had our daughter on purpose, then had twin girls by accident, my husband was going to get a vasectomy while I also decided to get my tubes tied as an extra precaution. At the appointment, they did a scan to make sure I’m not pregnant already… BOOM! I’m 7 weeks pregnant with twins again. FML
Today, after my wife gave birth to another of our daughters, she announced that this was the last one. When I reminded her I still needed a son to carry on my name, she replied, "Well, you've got four girls. You want a boy? Birth him yourself!" FML
Today, my sister-in-law announced that she’s pregnant. With my kid. And the doctor thinks it might be twins. FML
Today, I came home to my wife crying. She had mixed up our newborn twin girls and couldn't tell which was which. I looked at the girls. Neither could I. FML
Today, my wife had our first child. He's identical to her coworker. FML
Today, I was told I will be having twins; this came as a shock since there are no twins in my family. When I asked my mom about it, she said that she wasn't surprised and not to worry about it because she had "absorbed her twin" and that the problem would "take care of itself." FML
Today, my husband is not talking to me because he was happy with the two children we had, but I had major baby fever and spent a year talking him into having just one more baby, and the ultrasound just showed I’m having triplets. FML

Congrats on your kids! Must have been quite the shock :) And hopefully your husband is kidding. Unless they're identical twins, in which case, yeah, they kinda did clone in the womb, in a way. Science: it's cool like that.

Hard to say FYL at this - you have two healthy boys! Congratulations! Let's just hope that the cloning stops there - if they divide once every 9 months then in 15 years time you'll have 1,048,576 teenagers to deal with!

Well there's no way this could be a YDI but it obviously doesn't suck - you have two little boys! It will be tough, especially if you weren't expecting two, but it should be worth it in the end. And you have a fun story to tell when they're older. :)

Congratulations but all I can think of is how horrible your prenatal care visits were. No monthly check ups? No listening to the baby's (babies) heart beat? No sonograms? Etc...

I agree. Even a simple measure of her abdomen would have brought questions of possible twins. Plus they can see twins through an ultrasound during the first trimester.

Actually, it's rare but occasionally one baby will "hide" behind the other, making it hard to see in an ultrasound, and under the right circumstance their heartbeats could match up so it would've sounded like a strong beat rather than two heartbeats, which the dr would probably assume if he could only see one baby on the ultrasound. I know a girl who had surprise twins, and she had regular ultrasounds, etc.

60- a lot of people don't know they are carrying twins until after they started their second trimester. I knew I was carrying twins but by measuring my stomach, I was always where a singleton baby would be. Not everybody measures larger.

When I was pregnant with twins, they thought I had a baby and a blood sac during my first ultrasound . It wasn't until my second trimester we discovered my girls were identical twins. It happens sometimes.
