Today, I went to my father for advice. I've been seeing a wonderful girl for the past month, and I feel terrible about it, because I already have a girlfriend. He said "Kill yourself" and that if I "can't even do that right" then to get out of his house, because he disowns me. FML

Today, I introduced my girlfriend to my dad. I thought it was a good idea at the time, at least until he took her aside for a private chat. During the chat, he told her all about my two previous marriages and advised her to "get out while you can". FML
Today, I asked my girlfriend's father if I could marry his daughter. He smiled, shook my hand, and said "No. Now get out of my house." FML
Today, I confided to my dad that since the recent breakup with my boyfriend of 3 months, I feel down all the time and life doesn't feel worth living anymore. His loving advice was for me to "grow the fuck up and get your sentimental head out of la-la land." FML
Today, I overheard my dickhead dad telling my girlfriend that she's too good for me, then asking if she really wants to settle for someone like me. FML
Today, my dad had a chat with my fiancé, telling him he can do better than me, and to think carefully before going through with our wedding. FML
Today, I found out why my dad doesn't want my girlfriend coming to our house anymore. Apparently, her dad used to bully him a lot during high school and he's never gotten over it. He's threatened to disown me if she comes back over here. FML
Today, I proposed to my girlfriend at a dinner with our two families. Not only did she flatly reject me, my dad said, "Good call. He's not ready." FML
Today, I heard my boyfriend talking with my father in the backyard. I thought he was asking for my hand in marriage. He was actually telling him about his plans to break up with me. FML
Today, my girlfriend of two years broke up with me because her father, who abandoned her before she was born and just reentered her life, doesn't approve. FML
Today, my girlfriend's father sent me a text message that simply stated "You ruined my relationship with my daughter." I wanted to ask him for his blessing to marry his daughter. FML

I'm probably going to get down voted by most people for this (some may agree).... But like your dad said... Kill yourself before your girlfriend does!!! it'll be less painful for you.... you already have someone and you're gonna mess that up by seeing someone else?? pick one of them man, because "your girlfriend" will eventually find out (women are better than the FBI when it comes to finding stuff out about guys) do yourself a favor and kill yourself before she does

Guys, you're being way too harsh here. Sometimes cheating can sort of happen naturally, and it ends up that one girl just is more perfect for a guy in the end than the other one was. The guy went to his dad for advice because he obviously felt extremely bad about doing what he's doing (even though he seemingly can't help it) and wanted the lies to end. If the father had actually done his paternal duties properly he might have understood his sons situation, and he would have helped him break up with the right girl. But straight-up rejecting your son in an obvious time of need, and saying something hurtful and immature like "kill yourself"? Not cool, and certainly not fatherly. I appreciate a lot of you are sort of mentally tuned to hate anyone who cheats, but you have to be a bit more mature about it and understand that if it wasn't difficult to stop cheating, then it wouldn't be such a common occurrence. You might end up being that father in the future, after all, and you wouldn't reject your own son taking my words into consideration.

I know how to not cheat! Here it is... Wait for it.... Keep your pants zipped and/or your legs shut. Sooooo difficult but it's 100% effective! It's a common occurrence because people have no respect for anyone else and it seems to be socially acceptable to cheat. Anyone with any decency wouldn't because they have respect for themselves and their partner. ''John cheated on Mary? Oh well, at least he's getting laid.'' ''Mary cheated on John? What a ****, maybe I can have a ride too!''

Ok so it seems you actually need real advice and not the mindless judgemental babbling of fools. Break it off with your current girlfriend IF you truly have developed strong feelings for this other girl and explain to her that you've been hanging out with this chick and you have feelings for her now that extend past the boundaries of friendship. IF you don't do that, you really are an asshole for playing with both of their emotions and stringing them along.
