Today, I was on a date with a guy I met online. After 30 minutes, he abruptly stands up and says he has to leave. He practically ran out of Starbucks to get away from me. FML

The date from hell #5676
Today, I went on an a date with a guy I met online. We were waiting in line at Starbucks when he turned to me and said, "Do you want anything?" Just before I was about to answer, he practically shoved in front of me and paid for himself. The cashier looked more horrified than I did. FML
Today, I planned to go on a date with a man I met online. He came to my apartment to pick me up, and I told him I'd be right out as I grabbed my purse. When I got outside, he was gone. FML
Caught
Today, I went on a date with a guy. I lost interest in him quick, so I excused myself to go to the bathroom, hoping to make a run for the hills. As soon as I reached the front door, our server yells out, "I hope you’re not thinking about dining and dashing!" FML
Today, I met up with a guy from a local dating site for coffee. He walked up, looked me over and said "Ummm, no", then walked off. FML
First Dates
Today, I went on a date with a guy I've had a crush on for ages. Midway through the meal, he sighed and said, "I'll be honest, this is a horrible date. You got zero personality and I'm too lazy to do a window escape, so..." He then got up and walked out. FML
Today, I went on a coffee date with a guy I'm interested in. He picked up his phone mid-date to finalize dinner plans with another girl. FML
Today, I emailed the guy I like to ask him on a coffee date. He responded, declining by telling me he never drinks coffee. We met at Starbucks. FML
Where are you?
Today, I had a date with someone I met online. We agreed to meet at a nice restaurant. I got there early, ordered a drink, and waited. And waited. An hour later, I texted to ask where he was. His response? "I’ve been watching you from my car for the last hour. Decided you’re not my type." FML
Fake news
Today, I went to a coffee shop to meet an online date. I couldn't spot him, so he eventually came up and introduced himself. It seems his on-line picture must have been taken before I was born. I spluttered "This isn't going to work," and promptly scuttled out. FML
Dating is hell
Today, I went on a date with this really cute guy from a dating app. He'd set the date and told me where to meet him. We met at a coffee shop, and he was an absolute gentleman. Five minutes after the date, I went to message him that I'd enjoyed myself, only to find he'd blocked me on the app. FML

His Polyjuice Potion started to wear off. Odd, it should've lasted for an hour.

He probably had diarrhea from the coffee. Don't be so quick to judge.

I thought this ^ too! OP: If he was sitting with you for 30 minutes and then jumped up and ran off for no apparent reason -meaning you hadn't just made some creepy statement like confession of love / willingness to have his children- then it's more likely that his wife or girlfriend walked in. If so, you're better off without him.

why do you people keep on saying stop online dating? its a hit and miss I know but some people meet that way and hit off. It doesn't mean they are freaks, it's just a semi brand new way of meeting people. nothing wrong with that. saying that people should just go out and meet people, um do you really expect to meet a decent girl dancing on top of a barstool? its all about perspective and just letting people do what they want. if its not your thing then don't f*cking judge. everybody just wants to be loved and be less lonely.

I met my husband online. And we are friends with other married couples that did as well.

My current boyfriend is someone I met online. :) I also know many couples that met that way.

Indeed it's more common than people think, probably because people don't go around admitting it since the stigma is there.

Ditto. I was actually just looking for a friend on plentyoffish (I was in a new town), but we just hit it off. I was also a bridesmaid for a couple who met on match.com. But definitely hit or miss. I have more friends who have had bad experiences with dating sites (especially craigslist -- beware!!). Sites can be fun and worth a look if you're single. Plentyoffish is free (ad supported).

I met my boyfriend on Plenty of Fish a year and a half ago and we live together now. So it does work well sometimes.

Don't worry about the stigma, it will go away. Some people here like to dis it. They think that if you don't have an arranged marriage it means you must be trash.

I have friends that make fun of me for meeting people online, but it's just to tease me. I think a lot of the stigma is actually gone. I mean, practically everyone is online, now! My friends have met multiple people that I originally knew from online, and have loved them. Actually, Im fairly certain some of them love my boyfriend even more than they love me, lol.

Why do people defending online dating always say, "it's better than trying to pick someone up at a bar"? There are other places to meet people, you know. I don't care if people date online but just because I don't doesn't mean I'm bar hopping and bringing random rowdy drunk guys home. I've also learned that people online can be MUCH different in real life. It's easy to seem smarter, more confident, etc. over the internet.

Because what we mean to say is "it's better then meeting someone at a bar, or at the mall, or at a club...ect..." You're more likely to find someone with the same interests and personality, quicker, online then you would in real life. And to all those people saying "you can meet scary people online" yeah... so how do you know that guy you're flirting with at the Gap isn't a freak either. Online is just another place to meet people.

You lucky bitch! You got 30 whole minutes with the guy! When I go to meet a girl I met online for coffee IRL, I just get some piggie grunts and see her running away! If you want to have a no-lose meeting with a guy you met online, arrange a rendezvous at the local glory hole ;)

did he leave his drink???? cus he crazy if he did

YDI, because 30 minutes is plenty of time to tell him how jealous and depressed you are and that you will kill yourself he sees anyone else.

Obviously OP. Guilty conscience, much? ;D

Sometimes 30 minutes is an OK amount of time to spend on a first date when two people haven't met in person before. But if he seemed to be running away from you at the end of the date, that's a bad sign.

Is there something really wrong with you or is he just an asshole?
