Today, I was at dinner with my boyfriend and his family. We were talking about relationships, and I commented on how online dating was the dumbest thing ever. His mom and step-dad went on to tell me how they had met through an online dating service. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Thanks but no thanks
Today, I called my mom to see how she was doing. She quickly hijacked the conversation and said that she's signed me up for a dating site, because she feels bad that I can't find a decent man. I've been dating my boyfriend for seven months, and she's seen me with him multiple times. FML
Today, I had a first date with a guy I met online. And his mom. FML
Today, I was invited by my boyfriend's parents for dinner at their house. The dinner went well I thought, until I was getting ready to leave. Before I could make it out the front door, I could hear them discussing their disappointment that their son would ever consider someone like me. FML
Today, I met a really nice couple at a bar. We talked and the conversation eventually drifted towards online dating. I casually commented that hooking up through the internet was sad and pathetic. Turns out they met on Myspace. FML
Today, I asked my mom about signing up for an online dating site. She took one look at me and said, "Why get rejected online when you can just go outside for the same?" FML
Today, I overheard my mother Skyping with her new "boyfriend" about the $1,000 she just sent him. She barely knew what internet dating was three weeks ago. FML
Today, I went on a first date with a guy I really like. He brought up that there was a person staring at us from a nearby table. That person was my mom. FML
Today, my boyfriend met my dad for the first time. The first thing he said to him was, "You're an idiot for dating my daughter." FML
Today, I found my dad on a dating website looking for younger girls. My mother and father are "happily" married, well according to her Facebook profile. FML
Today, I signed up for a dating site and used a photo of my mother and me at a wedding. Everyone stops responding when they find out they're talking to me and not her. FML

There's nothing wrong with disagreeing with online dating (I'm not a huge supporter of online dating either) but the way OP said is a bit careless. She said it was "the dumbest thing ever" which is just a really tactless way of saying it. The situation would have been fine if the OP had said something more tactful like, "I'm not a huge fan of online dating." But then it wouldn't really have been an FML I guess... eh

if you are smart and safe with the internet it can really lead to some great things

YDI for saying something 'was the dumbest thing ever', when obviously you know nothing about it. Lol.

Ok a few things 1. doesn't this sound like an FML earlier submitted about a girl who said 2 sum ppl @ a bar that online dating is stupid had the couple met on MySpace. 2. There is a difference between dating online and meeting people online. Dating online is when u meet someone online and through the internet have a relationship where you claim eachother as your partner while never actually meeting the person. On the other hand you can meet people online and then after getting to know them a bit meet them in real life and take it from there.

It's 2009. I think meeting people online is the best way to do it nowadays. Seriously, even when I meet a girl IRL and she gives me her number, I request her Facebook/Myspace url.
