Today, I asked my mom about signing up for an online dating site. She took one look at me and said, "Why get rejected online when you can just go outside for the same?" FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Thanks but no thanks
Today, I called my mom to see how she was doing. She quickly hijacked the conversation and said that she's signed me up for a dating site, because she feels bad that I can't find a decent man. I've been dating my boyfriend for seven months, and she's seen me with him multiple times. FML
Today, I signed up for a dating site and used a photo of my mother and me at a wedding. Everyone stops responding when they find out they're talking to me and not her. FML
Today, I woke up to an email confirming my membership to a dating site. Turns out my mother is as annoyed by my loveless life as I am. FML
Today, I was at dinner with my boyfriend and his family. We were talking about relationships, and I commented on how online dating was the dumbest thing ever. His mom and step-dad went on to tell me how they had met through an online dating service. FML
Tinder surprise
Today, a woman turned up uninvited at my house, ready for our first date. After some embarrassed investigating, it turns out my mother signed me up to Tinder and arranged a date, all without telling me, because she refuses to believe I prefer solitude over dating. FML
Controlling
Today, my mom was helping me plan for going to college. After 30 minutes of me getting more upset, and her getting more frustrated, she directed me to Tinder, a wedding venue website, and the local address for Planned Parenthood. Her actual words were, "There's no shame in being a stay at home dad these days." FML
Today, I had a first date with a guy I met online. And his mom. FML
Today, I talked to my mom about hanging out with her. She got out her phone to schedule an appointment. FML
A step too far
Today, my mother keeps nagging me to find a wife, settle down, and have kids, even though I have zero interest in any of those things. She refuses to understand that I’m perfectly content being completely on my own. She even signed me up to Tinder without my knowledge. FML
Today, I was rejected by a girl when she told me she is not ready to date. We met on a dating website. FML

I'd say good luck, you're fabulous.

:( That's harsh, especially since it's your mom.

Why? B/c people are lazy and there's no easier rejection than when you're sitting down in the comfort of your own home...

Tell your mom you got your looks from her.

That's so cool! I love chips and salsa :)

How does online dating make OP lazy? If you are looking for a partner than why not look in a place where there are people also looking for the same thing? Chance meetings with your life partner don't often happen in real life, leave that for the movies.

Sometimes hearing the truth from your mom may feel worse but it's actually out of love and a lot better than from another person.

Wow #53, I bet you're all kinds of fun at parties. That's clearly the best way to boost someone's self esteem. OP, FYL. If you have the means to pay for membership on a dating site and that's something you would like to do, then you really don't need to ask your mom. That was a shitty thing for her to say.

Why the **** did you ask your mom before signing up to an online dating website?
soulreaper12296 28
She wasn't asking if she could. She asking for her mom's opinion if she thought it was a good idea or not.

#15, nowhere in the FML does it say OP was asking for an opinion.

The third word in the fml is 'asked'

She probably asked to get some advice, and she got a different answer.

#15 'About' implies it. If it were 'if I can' I would agree that OP was asking permission.

Don't let it get to you OP. There's loads of people out there like you and if you keep your chin down instead of up, you'll never see when they're in front of you. So keep your chin up :)

Just not too far up or you'll trip.
miyaviichan 27
Yeah why include your mom in this decision?
soulreaper12296 28
She probably just wanted to know her opinion on it.

And why the heck we ask those questions in first place, it's their family and they got their own way of life.

Well maybe she's just kidding, go give it a shot I know a lot of people who have found someone they like on those sites, just make sure it's eHarmony because they ranked number 1 in online marriages ;)

Chin up OP! Some people meet the love of their lives on dating websites. Show your Mumma what you've got and go find yourself a partner! :)

I was lucky and met mine online. It can work as long as you're smart and safe.

I did too. it's helpful so you know a little bit about the person before you decide to talk to them, you don't have to waste time figuring out if you're both looking for the same thing and all that good stuff.
sharklover2017 11
Aww I'm sorry don't listen to her. I say go for it. You never know who you may meet. You'll never know unless you try. People go on there to find someone worthy of dating, and I hope you do too. Good luck!

Your mom is a bitch. You will find your true love eventually, keep your chin up. :)
