Today, I turned in an overdue English assignment at college. My instructor accused me of plagiarism, writing that my sentence structure was "TO" good. Seriously? FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, my teacher called a friend and me out of class and told us we had been reported for plagiarism because our answers to a problem were nearly identical, and he said that I shouldn't have shared my work. This for an assignment where significant marks were awarded for collaborating with peers. FML
There's always someone with a big nose who knows
Today, I failed an assignment because the person I paid to do it plagiarized the entire thing. FML
Quite the accusation
Today, I got a paper back that was given a zero for suspected plagiarism. Everything I wrote was my own thought and analysis. My instructor basically thinks my paper is smarter than I am. He won't listen, even when I explain my thought processes throughout the piece. FML
Today, I got cited for "internet plagiarism" and called to the dean's office. I'd been sitting a closed-book written exam, and my teacher had been breathing down my neck the whole time. FML
Today, my AP teacher once again accused me of plagiarism. Apparently the words "demise," "ultimately," and "rural," are too sophisticated for an 11th grade AP student to use and MUST have been copied from the Internet. FML
Do your own research
Today, I got yelled at for 10 minutes by my head of department for failing one of my students for plagiarism, because, "we can't be sure." It was my work he plagiarised, but because it's not in our system, it doesn't count. FML
Today, at school, I got in trouble for plagiarizing on a paper. The subject of said paper was where I see myself in ten years. FML
Today, I turned in an essay after staying up late to work on it. I was away when the teacher assigned it, so I'd asked my friend what the subject was. It transpires that she'd given me the wrong one, all because she was mad at me for not returning her pencil. FML
Today, I had my teacher look over my essay before turning it in. He said it was extremely well-written, so I handed it in. When I got it back, the feedback he left said it was one of the worst essays he'd ever read. FML
Today, I got a writing assignment back. After meeting with my professor specially after class and meticulously combing through every word of that paper, I got a low D. Turns out, he graded me down on every suggestion of his that I took. FML

I'm fairly positive that due to the quotation marks OP's professor was the one who used the wrong form.

I'm torn as to whether the quote marks were used for emphasis (which would make the "to" the OP's own words) or if they were quoted from the professor (in which case, wouldn't a student who professes to write correctly make proper use of [sic])?

I don't believe you either! You can't even spell "TOO" right!!!!

You're not too bright, are you?

I was actually wondering what the essay being overdue had to do with anything. Seems like unnecessary information. Maybe OP thinks that besides their professor being an idiot, the professor was being spiteful and just nitpicking because it was late?

I hope you pointed that out...

Your teacher is a dumbass and probably jealous of you.

OP should write a paper on the correct usage of "to, too, and two". also "there, they're and their" and "your and you're". ;)

And also about "then" and "than".

What he is referring to for the FML is that he got accused of plagiarism. The other problem is that the teacher said it was "to" good. That's improper grammar and sad mistake that an English teacher would make.

The easiest way to uncover plagiarism is when bad students do well on writing assignments. For example you failed every test but turned in a quality paper. That's how your prof figured it out.

That's to bad, OP. It is horrible that this happened too you and I hope your not two upset about it; however, you're professor is right. You could learn a thing or too from him. Really, though, that's pretty dumb. FYL.
