Today, I got a writing assignment back. After meeting with my professor specially after class and meticulously combing through every word of that paper, I got a low D. Turns out, he graded me down on every suggestion of his that I took. FML

Today, after turning in a paper that I worked really hard on, I got it back with a grade of 0. In the feedback section, my professor wrote: “In all my 37 years of teaching, this is by far the worst essay I have ever read.” FML
Today, I asked my professor what happened to the assignment I gave him several weeks ago. Turns out he lost it, and graded me zero as a result. Now if I want a mark, he says I'll have to hand-write it all over again, but that I "probably shouldn't bother," because it was "a bit shit, really." FML
Today, I met my teacher after school to talk about a paper on which he gave me a low grade. I told him that I felt it was wrongly graded and he agreed. He lowered my score. FML
Today, I confirmed that my professor hates me. Weeks ago, I failed a paper for the first time, so I went to my professor, apologized profusely, and discussed my revision plan. I got his approval on my conclusions and added all the details he suggested. I then submitted my paper. I got my grade this morning: C-. FML
Today, I had my teacher look over my essay before turning it in. He said it was extremely well-written, so I handed it in. When I got it back, the feedback he left said it was one of the worst essays he'd ever read. FML
Today, my English professor bragged to my entire class about how good my essay was. He kept on saying great things about it for the duration of class. To my surprise, he'd given me a C-. When I asked why, his only response was: "I'm a hard grader." FML
Today, my professor handed me back a paper I spent hours hours working on. At the bottom in red it said "D" followed by, "That was a gift." FML
Today, I got a paper back that was given a zero for suspected plagiarism. Everything I wrote was my own thought and analysis. My instructor basically thinks my paper is smarter than I am. He won't listen, even when I explain my thought processes throughout the piece. FML
Today, I got my language final exam back. It was a 10-page essay front and back, and I saw that I received a D. The teacher told me the plot was too hard to follow and it jumped all over the place. It turns out he forgot to read the back of every page. FML
Today, I got my grades back. I got a very poor evaluation for my lit class, which was odd because it didn't match the impression from my end-of-class meeting with the professor. It does, however, include a nod to the supposedly-anonymous negative class review I gave her, though. FML

I can kind of see the teacher's point, but it was executed horribly. I know my history teacher let's us use his suggestions, but he likes it better when we take our own approach at an assignment. So if our paper starts to sound too much like HIS paper, he might pull us aside and ask us to try and be more original next time. But to mark a student down for EVERY suggestion he took is just overkill.

If OP went through every word with the instructor, getting feedback, then it sounds like the instructor basically did all the work. I can't believe the instructor spent that much time with you in the first place.

Teachers are supposed to give you suggestions and ideas to help you improve. I've had teachers that have actually taken points off for not using their suggestions.

Did you copy his ideas word for word? That is still plagiarism. He was probably trying to spur your creativity not just hand you answers

There is a difference between plagiarism and taking a suggestion. I'm assuming OP turned those ideas in to his/her own and giving his/her own twist. I really doubt the professor told the OP word to word what he would write if it's his assignment.

A lot of those suggestions were probably something like "break this paragraph into 2 paragraphs because it makes a more cohesive argument". Or, "tie this idea back to your thesis statement". I highly doubt the professor dictated an essay to OP.
