Today, I told my girlfriend of 2 years that I was sexually abused as a kid. She was only the third person I've told. She reacted by breaking up with me because I "might do something" to her kids. FML

Today, my girlfriend of two years broke up with me. She wants to try dating women. This is the second time this has happened to me. FML
Today, as things were getting hot with my girlfriend, it came up that I'm a virgin. She broke up with me. FML
Today, I told my wife I wanted a divorce. I haven’t been in love with her for a long time and I've fallen in love with a girl at my job. When I told her this, she responded with, “No, fuck that, we're going to couples' therapy and you are gonna be a father to our kids!” I guess that’s a “No.” FML
Today, I took my girlfriend of 3 years out to where we had our first date. I proposed to her. She breaks down in tears as she tells me she's been sleeping with her co-worker for the past year. FML
Today, my girlfriend broke up with me because I was too tired for sex, which she interpreted as me confessing to not wanting to have sex with her because I’m having sex with other women. FML

Abuse is a horribly traumatic thing to endure at any point in your life. I'm sorry OP that you had to go through that. I hope the person that hurt you is rotting in jail or in hell. I have 0 tolerance for abusers. I hate people that make excuses for someone that's abusive. You shouldn't be able to walk this earth if you allow such evil to escape from your body! I have dealt with so many sex offenders and it makes me sick to think about the things these people would do. Your girlfriend is obviously being insensitive, but she may just be scared.

ok for the ppl that are saying that he only told three ppl and then the world on FML well I don't see a real name on his username and anyways who the hell is gonna recognize him as "that guy from across the street" anyways. and the second thing I wanna say to the ppl that are calling her a bitch; you guys don't know what was going through her head and the circumstances there were. you ppl have no right to say she was insensitive as the OP commented she said she was sorry for what had happened to him. I don't know if she acted on emotion or logic, but she was scared for what might happen to her children and acted. although she was wrong to act so suddenly, I think she had a valuable reason to break up with him. wrong or not it was her decision. I am not siding with herm, I want to make that clear. she should have had enough trust towards him to actually sit down and have conversation with OP and see what his point of view was on the matter of child abuse was. IF ( after the conversation) she still thought of him as a potential abuser, then she should have acted. but not so suddenly like she did. But you just realIe that just because someone was sexually abused themselves, that in no way means that the victim is going to act in the same way. Nobody is saying she shouldn't protect her children, but it's her logic that makes absolutely no sense. With how she is thinking, anybody who has been raped or molested is apparently a bad person.
