Today, I spent my day alone while my parents and siblings were at school and work. Trying to be helpful, I cleaned out the fridge, did 5 loads of laundry, worked outside, fed the pets, and made dinner for the entire family. The evening was spent hearing complaints about how wrong I did everything. FML

Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, while my parents were grocery shopping, I cleaned the kitchen, swept floors, did laundry, and cleaned bathrooms, only to finish right before they got home. After dinner, my dad bitched and complained that I didn't take out the trash and he had no room to throw away his paper plate. FML
Today, I had an very long day at work. I also had to take my daughter to the dentist and ballet class. Later, my 3 year-old son was having a diarrhoea, needing care, yet I pulled myself up, cooked, fed, read, cleaned the whole house except the kids' bedroom. My brother-in-law came, looked only at that and judged me horribly. FML
Today, I made breakfast for the family. Perfect. Did all the Laundry. Great. Drove the one and a half hour round trip to take my stepdaughter to work. Blah. Finished off by doing some housework and cooking dinner. The dinner wasn't perfect, and my wife told me that for all the good I do, I ruin everything. FML
Today, after a long talk with the kids, I finally got all the chores around the house done early so we could have a fun family weekend. My wife decided to be a wet blanket and insisted we needed to deep clean the already clean kitchen. Three arguments later, everyone is sulking, and I'm working in the kitchen alone. FML
Today, my mom asked my siblings and me for help cleaning the kitchen. After working for a half hour while all my siblings sat on the couch, I pointed out that I was the only one working. My mom thanked my siblings for not having attitudes like mine and sent me to my room. FML
Today, I spent all day doing chores around the house, including mowing and raking the lawn, paying bills, going to the store, meal prepping, and cleaning the fridge. When I sat down to enjoy some well-earned games, my girlfriend sighed and asked if I ever planned to contribute anything to our relationship. FML
Today, after weeks of my girlfriend complaining that I don't help with the chores, I secretly took a day off work to deal with some that were piling up. When she got home, all she could do was complain about how I hadn't done more. FML
Today, my parents came home after being out of town for the weekend. I stayed home, did homework and completely cleaned the house, thinking I could earn some brownie points with them. They saw how clean the house was and accused me of covering up a party. FML
Today, at home, I always do my share of the chores. I just got back from a business trip and it turns out that I actually do ALL the chores. My wife was alone for 9 days, the kitchen was a in state, dirty laundry everywhere, cat litter box overflowing onto the floor, and the bathroom was fucking disgusting. FML
Today, I spent hours cooking an amazing dinner for my family, who had just gotten home from a trip, so we could spend some time together because I'd started to miss everyone. When they got home, they saw it all laid out and just took plates to their room, without even telling me they were home. FML

I agree with #1, Tell them to do it themselves. When I do anything I get complained at that I did it wrong, so I stopped doing stuff a while ago.

The last time my parents did that, I just told them "Fine, I'll just doing such things for you." Then I stopped cleaning my room, bathroom, and garage. Parents: I know you're supposed to be the "mighty overlords of the house" being the primary care givers, but count it a miracle when your kid does something without being asked. It's not something to be taken granted.

I'm torn with this one. On the one hand you did something nice for someone, with good intentions, and they were totally ungrateful and rude. It sucks when that happens. On the other you when out of your way to do stuff to get a pat on the back, which is incredibly annoying.

Basically, in America, the individual school district or university will decide how to distribute vacation days. The state has a protocol for minimum days of attendance, and after that the individual district decides how many days for which holidays, they also have to figure in the potential for snow days and what not in some states, I remember a couple years in high school where they started talking about cutting breaks short due to an excess of snow cancellations. That's why you get so many dates from confused American students trying to figure out why their friends aren't all on break too lol

i have been on both sides of this one...i know you were just trying to be helpful and it sucks to not be appreciated. on the other hand sometimes my husband will do the dishes, for example, and every single thing he cleaned still looks like shit and needs re-washed. it doesn't help when someone does chores but does such a crappy job that you have to go behind them and do it over again.
