Today, I proposed to my girlfriend, only for her to slap me, throwing the "fake ring" away and storming off, convinced it was a cruel joke. FML
Today, my girlfriend came over to my place unannounced. She slapped me in the face, said, "You son of a bitch." and stormed off. I have no idea what that was for. FML
Today, I proposed to my girlfriend. She was so happy that she began flapping her hands around and screaming. She was flapping her hands so hard she smacked herself in the face and started crying. FML
Today, I proposed to the girl of my dreams. She asked me who I was, and maced me. FML

Today, I proposed to my girlfriend of 5 years. She bitched me out for not getting the ring she had been "hinting" me to get, and angrily left. FML
Today, I proposed. She immediately said no and then broke up with me. FML
Today, after my girlfriend telling me for years that she would marry me in a heartbeat, I finally proposed. She said no. FML
Today, on the advice of several friends, I tried to de-escalate a stupid argument with my fiancée by kissing her. She slapped me senseless and whooped my ass up and down the house until I escaped to the car. FML
Today, I asked my wife for a kiss. She snarled, "I'm your WIFE, just fucking kiss me! You don't have to ask!" Later, I went in for a kiss and she slapped me, then yelled that it was my fault for "getting in her face." FML

Stop calling her. I know it's easier said then done. However, if this kind of thing is okay to do to you now (no matter what the reason) it will only get worse in the future.

This should be the top comment. Sorry, OP, but if she's ignoring you, she's not worth it. Everyone overreacts occasionally (although there's NO excuse for violence), it's the lack of followup that proves she's not worth it.

Honestly, it's going to be really hard on you but the best thing you can do right now is give her some space. Obviously something is extremely wrong for her to react that way and she needs to calm down a bit. You do deserve an explanation, but unfortunately it's going to have to come on her terms. Hang in there, OP.

Was there a chance that she thought you were joking? I can see how if she really wanted to get engaged and you somehow didn't seem serious enough she could have taken it like you were mocking her.
