I sympathize with you OP. However, feel that you likely did this without having talked about it much with her. A marriage, and proposal, has to be a mutual decision. Not a decision for one person and a complete surprise for the other. Yes, you see videos of surprised women in tears being proposed to- a lot of those people talk about it, so the proposition of marriage itself isn't a surprise, but the exact proposal moment is a surprise.

That happens when you do it on the second date.

Better to find out now and not later.

Marriage should literally be spoken of and almost ready to give the go-ahead before you think about proposing. As another said, the only surprise should be when (even then, usually soon!) and where. You both must be on the same page before moving forward. I will sympathize though if you have been, she said she wanted to, and when you asked this happened. Then it's all on her, and you seriously dodged a bullet.

Ok. That sucks. I might not be the smartest person in the world, but I think that what's supposed to happen is her saying yes and kissing you on the lips. OP, I sympathize with you. Either get her back or get someone better

Obviously you didn't have a deep connection with her so I'm wondering why you proposed.
