Today, I played a Jazz gig. It rained, making the tent the band performed under heavy with water. When I stepped forward to play my solo, the front end of the tent collapsed under the weight of the rain, drenching me. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
The Glastonbury experience goes worldwide
Today, I went to a music festival in an area where the weather is practically sunny all year round, but for this special occasion it rained the whole time, turning the venue into a giant mud pit. FML
Rock n roll star
Today, I was performing for a fairly large crowd with my band. I decided it would look cool to stand on one of the speakers and sing from there. It did look pretty cool for a bit until I tried to step off and fell face-first on the floor mid-song. FML
Rock n roll!
Today, I had my first gig with my new band. I was concentrating on my guitar during the second song when I tripped over the singer's microphone cable, hit my head on the bass drum, and blacked out. When I came to, people were applauding, apparently thinking it was part of the act. FML
Rock n roll star
Today, my band was playing its first serious gig. I was in the middle of a solo when a drunk guy tackled me, causing me to crash into the drums, breaking them and my guitar, hitting our drummer, knocking him out. FML
Toniiiiight, I'm a rock n roll staaaaaar
Today, while playing a gig with my band, I tried pulling the classic "playing the guitar with one foot on the monitor" rock-star pose. However, I misjudged the height of the monitor, didn't notice the puddle of beer in front of it, slipped, and fell off the stage into the security guy. FML
RAWK N ROLL!!!
Today, my band played its first real gig. It was going well, and I, the vocalist, thought it would be a good idea to stage dive. I underestimated the distance between the stage and the crowd and crashed into the floor. FML
Today, hoping to avoid the rain because I had just gotten an expensive perm, I ducked under an awning. At that moment, the store manager shook the awning, and about 6 hours of rain dumped on my head. FML
Rain stops play
Today, the arts company I work for cancelled our 8 pm sold-out outdoor performance at 7:30 due to rain, and will have to reticket 550 patrons. I'm the only person in the office trained in ticketing. It stopped raining 10 minutes after we cancelled it. FML
Today, I found out that the peaceful rain I'd been listening to all night was really a broken water-main flooding my entire yard. FML
What gauge strings are you using??
Today, I forgot to tune my guitar pre-performance. Surprising, because it was in tune when I frantically did it by ear backstage. Too bad two of the six strings snapped, smacking the drummer in the face. FML

Let's be honest, what type of people go to jazz gigs? Old people. Stagediving on a groups of senior citizens would end with OP getting sued.

At least nobody was doing jazz aerobics.

HAHA! past fml reference.

Shouldve kept playing like the rain was part of the show and come out on top. Like j-Lo when her music got cut off at one of her concerts, she was still dancing and singing.

Check the weather forecast before you play. No one likes a gig drowned out by the depressing sound of rain...

At least you were involved in a jazz gig and not a **** gag

Let's be honest, how much do you know about who attends jazz gigs?
dre_bro11 12
38, I take it 6 does not literally think that all the people who attend these jazz gigs are old, but from a stereotypical point of view, which is how a lot if people judge nowadays (me included) you tend to associate music genres such as jazz with the elderly, hence where 6 was coming from.
Jimster1712 0
6, you are stereotypical. Many youngsters listen to jazz too, just that its really little.

I play in a jazz band and I'm 16. A lot of people at my school listen to jazz. Btw, trombone ftw!!

People who think that only old people listen to jazz surely haven't heard John Zorn's Moonchild album, or the Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble (or an insane amount of jazz fusion with genres like IDM). Any old hunched-over, undie-********, brittle-boned, half-deaf grandpa jamming out to Moonchild is awesome in my book. Or maybe it's just that he's half deaf and can barely distinguish what he's listening to. Regardless, jazz is too vast a genre to even stereotype. Those who can do that clearly don't know squat about what jazz is. Not that anyone really does.

That's what I thought, it would've looked sick as long as the instrument still worked okay.

it actually does. My girlfriend and I are both in jazz band.
bassoonist527 0
It does, actually. My boyfriend plays trombone in our school's amazing Jazz band, and he takes solos all the time. I'm absolutely sure that he's had more girlfriends than you've ever had. I'm his first.

Your instrument okay? That's all I would care about...

Hopefully he plays a brass instrument!
Prankster7o7 5
Well usually in jazz the solos are either bass, guitar or saxophone, so there's a chance his instrument is messed up.
taytay0314 5
I was thinking the same thing dude!
cacheson 42
Seriously? There’s a lot of brass solos too. There are no standards about who solos. Just look at Louis Armstrong.
