Today, I paid top dollar for an Italian soda that ended up consisting almost entirely of ice. When I complained, the girl insisted that the soda water stopped the ice from melting. She said she didn't see what the problem was, and threatened to have me thrown out if I didn't "simmer down." FML

Today, I was sent home for refusing to sign a write up at my restaurant. A customer insisted that she doesn’t drink soda so she’d like a ginger ale. I calmly explained to her that ginger ale is in fact soda. She told management I was being condescending and rude, because she didn’t believe me. FML
Today, I was waitressing when a man sat at my table with soda from somewhere else. Drinks are half the profit for restaurants. There is a strict policy that you have to charge for carry-in drinks. I told him this, he yelled at me so I told him I was doing my job. I got fired, for doing my job. FML
Today, a customer kept harassing me and threatening to sue me for all I'm worth because I wouldn't give her a free refill. Her reasoning was that it's "illegal" to deny people a free refill if there's still a little drink left in the cup. FML
Today, at the café I work at, I was yelled at by a woman because the drinks and food she ordered were "taking too long". Before I had the chance to get a word in, she stormed out and said she would never come back. I didn't get the chance to inform her that she hadn't ordered yet. FML
Today, a customer screamed at me, because her iced coffee tasted exactly like coffee, and she hates coffee. Sadly, this isn't even the most insane person I've had to deal with at this job. FML
Today, at work, a customer came in and ordered a "Butterbeer Frappuccino." When I said we serve no such thing, she yelled at me for "lying" to her, saying she knew about our "secret menu." She ended up complaining to my manager and demanded that he fire me. FML
Today, a customer yelled at me so furiously that she sprayed my face with spittle. I had to stand there, smiling and politely explaining that I needed to see a receipt before I could give her a refund. When she finally gave up and left, my boss bitched me out for "provoking the customer". FML
Today, I was called a fascist and accused of being "racist" against poor people, all because some crazy meth-mouthed bitch couldn't afford some booze and expected me to cut the price by almost 40% so she could. FML
Today, a customer yelled and cursed at me, splashing spittle in my face, and to top it all off she wished “my mom would die in a fire.” All this because I accidentally spilled her milkshake all over her Louis Vuitton handbag. Apparently, it “costs more than my rent.” FML
Today, while working at Dairy Queen, a customer asked me what was so special about our ice cream cakes, and how they're different from regular cakes. I chuckled, and told her it's because they're made from ice cream. She threw a fit, which resulted in me being written up and sent home early. FML

I've found that several places that offer Italian sodas will add ice even when you tell them not to.

It's basically a customized soda. Where I'm from it's club soda with flavored syrup that's usually fruity and generally has whip on top. It's very good if made right and without too much ice.

Beat me to it 89. Over 90% of the worlds water is salinated, and therefore undrinkable unless you remove the salt. Machines can do this... But the machines are rare and expensive. The worlds fresh water and aquifer levers ARE declining at an alarming rare so we could realistically run out of drinkable water in the next decade.

Always order without ice. Ice is meant to keep things cold, the soda is refrigerated so it's already cold, and places just put ice in their so you get less soda but pay for more than you think youre really getting

I personally also eat the ice :) if you look really closely at the waiter/waitress' face, when you ask for no ice they almost look annoyed, it annoys me when you order a pint of coke and more than half is ice!

Is anyone else a little suspicious about the fact that this fml might be a little biased? OP had to do more than just ask what's up with his drink to get threatened to be thrown out. He has good reasons to be pissed, but I'm sure more was said to the employee on his part.

Not necessarily. I've been in several situations where I overhear a customer asking very calmly about something (be it a request/complaint/etc) and the employee gets affronted and threatens to throw them out if they don't stop shouting (which they weren't doing.) Customer is not always right, but neither is the employee.
