Today, I'm fostering a very shy cat who doesn't like to be held. I had to move the litter box to another room, but when I picked him up to show him where I'd moved it to, he peed on me. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, my cat was in the bathroom with me because he loves toilets. Everyone was sleeping so I went pee but didnt flush. My cat jumped onto the seat and fell in. I had to lift him out and then wash him. He hates water though, so I was scratched by my cat who was dripping with my own pee. FML
Today, I went to clean my cat's litter box, not realizing she was in it. As I lifted the top half of the litter box up, she sprayed me with piss. FML
Today, I picked up my friend's new kitten so enthusiastically I scared it and it shat all over me. I literally scared the shit out of it. FML
Scaredy cat
Today, I discovered my cat is bathroom shy when I accidentally walked in on him relieving himself. He jumped about 3 feet in the air and bolted out, launching feces and pee all over the bathroom, hallway, and my shoes. FML
Respect her boundaries
Today, I finally convinced my shy new cat to come out from under the bed and hang out with me on the couch. I felt like a true cat whisperer until, in the middle of petting her, she jumped up, knocked over my mug, and spilled hot cocoa all over my book. She then looked at me as if I was the one who messed up. FML
Today, during my shift as a vet nurse, I picked up a gorgeous cat for cuddles, only to discover it was covered with pee. And now I am too. I still have 4 hours of my shift. FML
Today, I was at my boyfriend's house while his plumbing was being redone. I really had to pee, but the toilet wasn't working, so I peed in his cat's litterbox. His cat got defensive, and started attacking me while I peed. My boyfriend walked in and saw the whole thing. FML
Today, my cat was being surprisingly loving towards me. Normally she ignores me so I obviously found this rather odd. She kept meowing so I assumed she was hungry. As I was getting up to feed her, she stood up and pooped all over me, my bed and phone, then turned away and ran. FML
The master of the house
Today, I had to use the bathroom when I woke up this morning. My cat was sitting in front of the toilet and absolutely refused to move. I seriously tried every humane way of getting her to move, but she didn't budge. I had to sit really awkwardly on the toilet to do my business. When I stood up, she moved. FML
Cats can do anything, but they have to want to
Today, after encouraging my cat to try his new cat bed all day with no success, I attempted to gently place him in it. Instead, he managed to fear-spray me in the face. Like a skunk. I didn't even know cats could do that. FML

The cat isnt shy, it is nervous. Shy is something we humans are, cats are nervous and that why it pees on you. To make sure you let go and it can run away again.

If he got used to it being in a specific place, he may not have an easy time adjusting. In my experience, most cats have a very strong dislike of changes in their environment or routines. It's not impossible to get him adjusted, but it might not be the most fun thing in the world, especially if he's nervous already.

You're probably right, mostly, but in my case the cat is fine. We've moved her box a few times over the years and she's okay with it. Except this one time it was in the bathroom, next to the toilet, and she was suddenly peeing in the house. Mom got mad and didn't understand why... I told her for weeks to move it, but she liked it there. I moved it myself and she suddenly stopped, just like I knew she would. The reason? My brother has TERRIBLE aim.

True, there are always exceptions to the rule.

Is there any way you can put the litter box back where it was? A cat, especially nervous ones not used to their surroundings, tend to like routine. Honestly, nearly all cats like some sort of routine. You may end up with the problem of the kitty peeing in the place where the litter box used to be. I'd suggest maybe gently urging the cat towards the new litter room until it feels adjusted enough to go in and out by itself. I know it's a pain OP, but it's better than cat pee everywhere

cats aren't shy animals, just picky as to who they like or accept and need time to get used to new people or surroundings, try Bach plant extracts, cat mint or calming drops..usually helps. good luck with your new furbaby OP

The cat probably would have found it on its own...still you might have been better off leaving it where it was...

LOL! My oldest has a tendency to do that when he freaks out. At least the cat peed instead of fighting back!

could've been worse... could've been moving your pet skunk's litter box

Pet skunks have their scent glands removed as babies so they couldn't spray you with grossness anyway.

So you knew the cat didn't like being held stop picked it up? I'm not saying YDI but that could have been thought out a little more, no?
