Today, I got an angry text, asking me why I wasn't at the staff dinner. I've been gone for the last 2 weeks, and I wasn't told about it. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Ratted
Today, one of my friends got me in trouble when he called our house and asked my parents why they didn't see us at a school conference. My parents were at a meeting elsewhere at the time, so I didn't bother to tell them about it, as we couldn't have gone there to begin with, and it was voluntary. They're mad anyway. FML
Where were you?
Today, I was suspended from my job for missing a team meeting that was planned during my lunch time. Needless to say, nobody had told me. FML
Where are you?
Today, my boss phoned me and asked me why I wasn't at work. I was in the staff room. I'd said hello to her as I came in the door. FML
Today, I was recovering from an operation. After I felt better, I checked my phone. There were 35 missed calls and angry text messages from my boyfriend asking why I wasn't at his house to cook his dinner. FML
Today, I received numerous text messages from my parents asking where I was and how worried they are. I was in my room, they didn't even notice me walk in. FML
Today, I was invited to a birthday dinner at a restaurant. As I was leaving, I get a text from the birthday girl's boyfriend saying that it was cancelled. Hungry, I decided to go to that particular restaurant anyway. Turns out the party wasn't cancelled. Half the party just didn't want me there. FML
Today, after having been off due to the holidays, I awoke to several missed calls and texts from my supervisor asking where I was. Fearing losing my job, I drove the entire 2-hour commute thinking I’d missed a day. I hadn't; he was just trying to get my weekly reports early. FML
Today, after a big presentation, people sent an open invitation to dinner. When I asked which restaurant and what time, I was told that I wasn't invited. I've been here for three years. FML
How are people still doing this?
Today, I texted my friend to ask if she wanted to grab lunch. She didn't respond, so I followed up with, "You alive? Or just avoiding me?" An hour later, I realized I'd texted my boss. He replied with a very professional, "I’m alive, thank you for asking. Lunch is a bit early for me today." FML
Today, I was leaving work when I realized I had forgotten my bag on my desk. As I went back to get it, I overheard my co-workers talking about "last night's office party." I wasn't invited. FML

I would disagree. If I haven't been at work in two weeks and on my first day back, they say "why didn't you show up to this". Well because I was on vacation and therefore had no reason to reach out. If it was urgent and required, they should have reached out to OP.

Did you leave the job for good, or have you been on vacation? Also, if it was mandatory, why weren't you told? Also also, what kind of job do you have where the staff get together for dinner? I've only ever had dinner with one colleague, but that's because she's also my roommate.

To clarify: This reads like you're back at work after vacation or something. In that case, why do you need people to tell you? Unless you have a secretary, it's your responsibility to check what's going on at your work.

If it indeed was the first day back, I totally agree with you. That's why I'm asking for clarification.

Was it mandatory? If not then who gives a **** if you were at the dinner or not.

Even if on vacation it is still your responsibility to check especially if you were at home and could've gone. Employers are not going to personally tell every employee. You are supposed to call in check or stop to see if anything was posted.
