Today, I've been bedridden for the past two weeks. My boyfriend casually remarked that he understands now why some people cheat on their seriously-ill partners. Thanks for adding to the stress, sweetie. FML
Today, my boyfriend broke up with me because I'm "high maintenance." I'd only asked him to use deodorant and brush his teeth. He hasn't had a shower in over a week. FML
Today, I woke up feeling like shit after I had spent the whole night taking care of my sick boyfriend. He got up early, feeling great, bouncing around the house. When I finally got up I told him I didn't feel well and he yelled at me for being a bitch in the morning that slows him down. FML
Today, my boyfriend is blaming me for his recent diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder. Apparently, I should have just kept on tolerating all of his explosive outbursts, instead of "forcing" him to start couples' therapy with me. FML
Today, my boyfriend threw a fit because I "still" live with my mother at age 30. I bought her an apartment in my building and hired a live-in nurse because she is senile and permanently bedridden. FML
Today, my boyfriend broke up with me, because I'm too "high maintenance" during the holidays. Not to worry, though; he's willing give me another chance sometime after Valentine's day. FML
Today, I went to the hospital for constant dizziness and insomnia, and was diagnosed with anxiety. I figured out that the main source of my anxiety is not my job but my boyfriend, who has avoidant personality, which makes him constantly refuse almost everything that I request. He's a guy who just doesn't know how to show his love. FML
Today, I went to the hospital due to extreme sickness. My boyfriend saw this as an opportune time to take another girl out since I was "otherwise preoccupied." FML
Today, I told my boyfriend I had diabetes. He won't talk to me anymore because he thinks I'll infect him with it. FML
Today, I realized the only time my boyfriend actually makes a little bit of time to see me is when I'm having a full mental breakdown/anxiety attack. FML

To be honest, I'd be a little pissed, too. There's really no disease outside of cancer or kidney failure that requires FREQUENT hospitalization (maybe once or twice a year is more reasonable), and even then a lot of people who have a chronic illness learn how to manage it reasonably well on their own, at home. Learn your body a little better, and don't get pissed off when someone gets frustrated at how much your disease interferes with a relationship. Even though he knew about it (hopefully) when you got together, if it's enough of an interference he's going to get ragged every now and then. It's natural and it doesn't mean he doesn't care about you.

Okay, that's crap. I have a friend that has a muscle disorder that messes with everything, and she's in the hospital almost constantly. There's a LOT of medical issues that can cause frequent hospitalization. Not to mention that there are some so rare they don't even have names (Like my friends condition) Also, I get hospitalized quite often and I don't even have a medical condition. Shit happens, so shut the hell up.

I have chronic migraines, which most people don't think of as a disease, and I have to go to the hospital quite often for days-long medication drips via IV. Plenty of illnesses require frequent hospitalization.

SOMAgirl - sorry to hear about your condition. However, it is also possible that he may just be a little frustrated. Most people are not saints and may fray a little with the pressure. It will depend on how involved he is with her care. I was a partner to someone who was doing home kidney dialysis for some time. I had to set up the machine that cycled her blood, make sure to put in the right amount of medicine at the right time and connect the machine to her artery/veins. I hate putting needles in people and after a while I told her she would have to stick herself because I didn't want to do that any more. I still did the other stuff but she had to do the self immolation stuff. I felt bad afterwards but.... Anyway, all I'm saying is that just because he gets frustrated doesn't mean all is lost. We're only hearing one side of the story.
