Today, my boyfriend told me that he may have an STD. When I asked who he was with before me, and where it might have come from, he listed off almost every single one of my friends. FML

Is it possible that either of you caught an STD before you started dating but the symptoms just haven't shown up until now? Some STDS (especially chlamydia) show no symptoms for a long while in a lot of people.

If it's herpes, note that some people can be asymptomatic for years and never realize they have the virus, or never identified an outbreak as what it was--they might've seen what appeared to be an ingrown hair or freckle, and never attributed it to possible herpes as it's often assumed the virus causes massive, obvious sores for everyone. False negatives are not uncommon in herpes testing either, and FYI, standard STD panels do NOT test for herpes. HSV1&2 tests have to be requested specifically. So a set of "clean" results do not necessarily mean one is clear of the extraordinarily common herpes virus. If she suddenly has chlamydia (which is also frequently asymptomatic in women, but usually included in the regular battery of STD tests) or something shortly after getting a clean test for it, then yeah...she may be cheating.

Sometimes std's can show up later. That's happened to a few ppl I know. One women 25 years after she quit doing heroin n isn't sleeping around.

In some states you can legally charge her with fraud for giving you a STD without telling you. It is actually taken as a very serious crime in some places.
