Today, I'd had it with my mom's addiction to weed, so I told her to choose between me or the weed. I'm currently looking on Craigslist for an apartment. FML

A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, my mom told me she's a drug addict, sold my bed to buy meth, and then lectured me about how I should be okay with it. FML
Today, my mom found my weed stash and went berserk, grounding me and saying she's going to have my bedroom door removed. Less than an hour later, I found her laughing and smoking the same stash with my dad in the backyard. FML
Today, I came from a 12-hour shift to find my clothes and stuff outside, and the locks changed. I called my mom to let me in and she told me, “Hell the fuck no, I’m not having a drug addicted junkie up in my house! You’re no longer my daughter!” and hung up. Apparently, she found my stash of weed. FML
Today, my crazy drug-addict mother kicked me out of the house after siding with my crazy, drug-addict aunt, who'd just threatened to slit my throat. FML
Today, my mom called me a druggie after she found out I smoked weed once. She's now threatening to sell my car, tell my boss, and ban me from seeing my fiancée. I'm 24. FML
Today, my mother told me she thinks it is time for me to move into my own place. I agreed with her and went to look at studios/flats online. She later came into my room, saw me looking at places and then got pissed off at me, saying that I hate her for wanting to leave her. FML
Today, my mom told me she was getting tired of the smell of marijuana in the house. So I confessed and told her I'll never bring it home again. She was talking about my neighbors. FML
Today, I found out my roomie has lost her only source of income. This means I'm responsible for all the bills and the rent. I would kick her out and get someone else, but she's my mother. FML
Today, my mother yet again chose to put my brother's junkie of an ex-girlfriend's needs and happiness above mine, despite the fact that she's stolen thousands of dollars and anything else of value from my mom's house. FML
Today, my pill-popping mom, committing disability fraud and stealing from me, called the cops on me, and dragged the landlord into it, is now getting both of us evicted. All this because she'd rather live homeless with her drug problem than to get the help she needs, which I can't provide anymore after 10 years. FML

While it is true that you aren't addicted to the actual chemical THC in marijuana, you can become "addicted" to the effects it creates. Here's a really crappy example: you don't become addicted to being held at gunpoint by muggers, but you can get addicted to the adrenaline rush, so to get your fix, you'll walk around seedy parts of town with money hanging out your ass to get that rush again.

I think all the teenagers saying "wtf omg weed is awesomes n u can't get addicted to it you idiot lol lol lol" need to take a step back. Weed can be awesome, true, and it isn't physically addictive. But some people have dependent personalities and will seek out activities and substances to use as a crutch. In these cases it can become a demotivating, destructive force. To me, daily stoners are dull monotonous people to be around, and they need to learn the art of moderation. The OP's mum is one of these. .

Then mom has other problems than smoking weed...if she's really has dependency issues then the Fml would've been about cocaine or a harder drug, because someone like that would most likely not stop if they tried something other than weed.

Not everyone is the same when they are high.. Different people have different personality types when smoking. My roommate smokes just about every day and he has a great personality.

Opinions can be wrong. Many medicines are extracted compounds from plants. Cannabis may be no different, but we aren't positive, that's why it's important for scientists to study these claims using unbiased techniques known as the scientific process. And it is equally important for politics and ignorance to get off science's back so we can do our job, which is the pursuit of discovery and truth.

Marijuana has relatively few personality-altering traits, unlike harder, worse drugs. However, one of the few it has is compelling people to defend it utterly mindlessly and ignore any flaws it may have, however tiny, as well as talk about it ceaselessly. It's a very strangely specific effect!
