Today, I confronted my friend about the £260 he owes me. He got offended and said, "Friends don't have to pay back." He called me selfish and walked off. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Money ain't a problem when you've got it
Today, I listened as my ridiculously wealthy friend excitedly rambled on and on about her latest shopping trip. This is the same friend who owes me £150, and accused me of being insensitive for asking her to repay it at some point. FML
Today, I politely asked my friend if she would repay me the £20 she owes me. She shouted at me, called me an insensitive bitch, and refuses to pay me back as apparently she can't afford to. Her holiday to Italy next week begs to differ. FML
Neither a borrower nor a lender be
Today, my friend won’t pay me back the money I lent her. I stupidly lent her $1200. She’s calling me an “inconsiderate bitch” because I “have a good paying job, I’ll be alright.” FML
Today, I discovered that the five-star meal that my friend treated me to last night was actually meant to be repayment of the $200 I loaned her last month. I needed that money for bills and she refuses to give me another cent. FML
Tight ass friends
Today, I summoned the courage to talk to my friends about the money they owe me for my photography services at their wedding. We had agreed on a fair price, but now they're pissed, claiming that I'm being selfish, and should consider it my wedding gift to them. FML
Never lend to friends
Today, I asked my friend, once again, to pay me back the $500 she owes me. She got annoyed and told me, “I told you, my Cash App locked me out of my account!” When I mentioned Venmo, she said she'd forgotten her password to it, called me a "selfish c*nt", and hung up on me. FML
Roommate from hell #457
Today, my roommate and I were watching TV, and he ordered a pizza. After it was delivered, I took a slice. He yelled at me for taking his food and told me to stop mooching off him. I had to cover his rent last month and he still hasn't paid me back. FML
Another "nice guy" bites the dust
Today, my friend and I went to dinner. At the end, he told me that he’s had feelings for me for a while and wants to be more than friends. I don’t see him that way, so I tried to gently reject him and wanted us to stay friends. He stiffed me with the bill and said, “You can walk home then, buddy!” FML
With friends like these…
Today, I stayed with a friend because I was recently kicked out of my home and had nowhere to go. When I went out for job applications, she asked, "Can you pick me up a pack of smokes?" and then got mad that I didn't have the money, calling me selfish. FML
Today, after having loaned my girlfriend money after she claimed to be broke and unable to pay her rent and electricity bills, she went out, spent it all on a new purse and phone, and now refuses to pay me back. FML

When you get your money back I wouldn't talk to that "friend" again if I were you, OP.

Be careful who you loan money too... Some friends may seem sincere, but there are many selfish people out there. Still hope your friend decides to do the right thing OP!

A true friend would have never acted the way he did. You might seriously want to reconsider your choice in friends, OP. In the meantime, good luck getting your money back from that prick! =)

It sounds like you need to meet that guy who "used to run an illegal business", OP. Since 'friends don't break friends' legs', you need somebody to do it for you.

Doesn't sound like OP is getting it back though.

"When"? You mean "if".

inflicting pain can always make people pay back.

Well seems like he isn't a friend now. So he must pay.

Ask him if you can "borrow" £260.

sounds like he's more of a best friend

Kinda YDI for having such a friend and giving him such a high amount.... Also FYL because you might need it. Kinda been there. I preferred to lose the money and ditch the "friend".

I've had friends I've loaned a lot more than that. The fact that you use the term "loan" hints at the fact that you expect it back. If you don't get it back, consider it a cheap price for finding out what he's really like. Just wait until he needs to borrow money again and remind him about his outstanding balance.

Borrow £10 from him 26 times.

Friends don't have to be asked, to pay back. Drop him like a bad habit and take this as a lesson. Friends and money don't mix.
