Today, I summoned the courage to talk to my friends about the money they owe me for my photography services at their wedding. We had agreed on a fair price, but now they're pissed, claiming that I'm being selfish, and should consider it my wedding gift to them. FML

Today, I confronted my friend about the £260 he owes me. He got offended and said, "Friends don't have to pay back." He called me selfish and walked off. FML
Today, we gave my in-laws-to-be our wedding invitations. Their first reaction was to assume we needed money and told us they couldn't help pay for the wedding. Their second move was to book hair and make-up for themselves. Congratulations? FML
Today, while making a grand show of his generosity, my boss gave me my own commissions as a wedding gift. FML
Today, I agreed to help out with my boyfriend's sister's baby shower. They forgot to inform me that "helping" meant splitting the cost of everything. I now owe his family $275. I don't know how to back out without looking cheap. FML
Today, I found out that my fiancé's parents are refusing to pay for a honeymoon, because they "didn't have one, so neither will we", meaning they won't pay for a single thing for our wedding. FML
Today, three days before their rent was due, my fiancé's friends moved out of our basement without saying a word to us. On their way out, they took an envelope from my locked desk with $800 in it that was for our wedding in six months. FML
Today, our wedding venue canceled on us, leaving us 8 months to find another in peak foliage season. My parents contacted the local news over the ordeal, but they're using my name and picture to make me look like a whiny brat who didn’t get her way. FML
Today, my family somehow discovered how much money I make. They didn’t ask for money, or try to be my friend, or try to manipulate me, they just jumped straight to demanding ludicrous amounts of cash for fabricated and imaginary reasons, and already have their own lawyer. FML
Today, I went to dinner with friends for my birthday. During the whole thing they insisted that we get whatever we wanted and celebrate, but when the check came, they all looked at me expectantly. I just bought my friends $150 of food for my birthday present. FML
Today, one of my closest friends informed me that she wasn't going to invite me to her wedding, because I'm too shy and not enough fun, and she doesn't want her 200 or so guests to feel uncomfortable. I was the one who set the happy couple up. FML

Psh, don't even spend that much money on a gift if they want to be that rude. I'd buy them each a ******* ring pop. My dad does wedding pictures for some of the family and uses that as a gift for them, so I understand that it could have been a gift. But OP said they agreed on a price. I can't believe ungrateful pieces of shit like this. If I were you, OP, I wouldn't even give them the pictures back, unless you already have.

OP needs to just demand the money back, then break off the friendship if it's happened more than once. "Friends" don't just assume they will do favors for each other without the two agreeing. They've already agreed that they would pay OP for the pictures, but decide to bail last minute, expecting OP to just deal with it. What crappy "friends".

They're obviously not true friends. I don't know how far you can or would go in forcing them to pay up, though if I were in your situation I'd insist that they pay regardless of the effect on your relationship with them. If they care more about being cheap than they do about honesty, friendship, and integrity, then they aren't worth keeping around. I suggest abandoning any pretense of friendship and going after your money like a business man.

True. I've been in this situation and I learned my lesson. I didn't want to lose my friends, but at the same time I felt betrayed I felt like they all went against me. They ended up paying me but not on the price we had originally agreed upon , at the end I got screwed so lesson learned.

My friend hired my sister to sing at her wedding. The cost was negotiated upfront. I was smart and had a contract written up, because my sister is so horrendously bad with money and business that she would have gotten gyped out of it. The cost was $2000 (for band, time, and costs) and she tried to pay $20. We took her to court.

We did. We ended up getting around 8,000 total for costs + court fees. Suffice to say, we are no longer friends with that person.
