Today, concerned about my daughter's recent behavior, I looked through her web browser history. I found web searches for information on how to make a bomb to blow up a "horse". I'm not sure if she's illiterate, but either way it seems I need to get her some help. FML
Collection
Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
We've all been there
Today, I looked through my daughter’s search history. Did I find porn? No, worse. At the age of 17, she has been looking up the definitions of commonly used words such as ‘arbitrary,’ ‘pretentious,’ and ‘initiative.’ FML
Today, I found my daughter's fanfiction account. I need a new pair of eyes, or brain bleach, or both. FML
Spawned a monster
Today, I'm ashamed at ever having become a parent after I found out my daughter has been leading an online bullying campaign against a girl at her school who has disabilities, both mental and physical. Some of the language she was using in the online messages were just disgusting and unforgivable. FML
Today, I went through my 15 year old daughter's internet history. On google she searched 'Excuses to get away from your dad' and 5 other variations of the same thing. We were supposed to be having a father daughter day tomorrow. FML
Today, my daughter decided to come out to me by leaving a browser window open with the results page of an online "Are you lesbian?" quiz. FML
Blame bad TV plots
Today, I learned that my 11 year-old daughter wrote a love letter to her teacher. Cute, right? It was an incredibly graphic letter where she asked him to "abduct her and chain her up in his basement." I now must find her a new school and a therapist. FML
Privacy violation
Today, I asked my mom to help my daughter with Zoom school while I handled an emergency. When I got back, I found out my mom went through my laptop containing all my documents, my emails and even the journal my therapist suggested I keep. She says she was looking for a Zoom link. Yeah right. FML
Mortifying
Today, I was doing my nightly check of my daughter's phone since a recent stint in the psych hospital, and saw that she had fallen into a peaceful sleep to watching videos on a website dedicated to watching people die. FML
Today, it appears that my girlfriend visited an internet web page called "How to confess to having an affair." FML
Today, I walked in on my 14-year-old daughter holding a lit lighter to the underside of a spoon, which was full of baking powder. She was trying to breathe in the fumes to get high, and later confessed that she thought it's how heroin is made and used. FML

You shouldn't snoop on a kid's computer. They're growing up; their brain is developing. It might feel like betrayal for them to have a parent snoop around their personal stuff. It invades their privacy and is not okay. Just because they're a minor doesn't mean they shouldn't be respected. Talk to the kid, have them see a therapist, but don't snoop.

My mom told me and my sister we could have privacy when we moved out and paid our own way. She didn't make a habit of snooping. Only if we gave her reason too. At the time, I hated it. As an adult, I see it for what it was. She cared enough to be the bad guy if needed to keep us on track and from doing something that would mess up our lives. I'm bipolar. I've had symptoms for as long as I can remember. I thought it was normal and didn't ask for help. Her looking out for me kept me from killing myself. So yeah, I am glad she snooped.

#30 a good parent doesn't care about trying be your cool friend they just care about you and if that means they have to snoop to keep you safe then that's what they have to do but I guess you won't really understand that for a few years seeing that you're Just a child yourself.

In many cases, this advice is perfect. My mother takes any chance she gets to go through my texts and Facebook messages because I refuse to talk to her when I'm upset (to justify why I don't tell her things because I know I'm going to get comments on how I should, she likes to tell everyone in the family personal shit going on and they all sit around making jokes). I don't trust her at all anymore, and it sucks. In this case though, it's kinda necessary for OP to step in and talk to the kid.

You're going to be a wonderful parent #30, second thought, don't breed

Sorry #30, parenting doesn't stop when it becomes inconvenient for the child.

I suggest you have a serious but sensitive talk with her. If she was different before and her behavior has suddenly changed (which is what your FML implies), something very serious could be going on that she's keeping hidden from you: bullying, sexual/physical abuse, getting in with the wrong crowd, etc... Better to figure out right away whether there's something horrible going on or if she's just being a drama queen.

Did google correct it or is there a tutorial for blowing up horses?

For all the people saying "you shouldn't snoop through her stuff", I don't really agree with snooping either, I know I'd be upset if I found out my parents had gone through my things, but sometimes, there are extreme cases where it is necessary. Obviously the behaviour of the daughter was enough justification for it in this situation.

She probably watches South Park. Check if she googled how to make a bomb blow up with a musical note.

Someone's daughter read Ellen Hopkins' books. Haha. Get it? Because her newest book involves a spoiled brat who builds bombs and kills horses? I'm funny. My references are funny. Haha. I'm funny.

Why would you do that? She is your daughter, have a little trust.
