Today, after years of waiting, my mom and I finally received a check from Child Support Services. Excited, I opened it up to find a check from my dad, written out for 45 cents. Which pays for maybe half a loaf of bread. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I received my first payment of child support from my estranged husband: $50 and a note that said he wouldn't be paying any more. FML
Today, my Dad called me to tell me that he had finally won the lottery and that I no longer had to worry about trying to find a way to pay for school. I was so excited I started crying. He then told me that he won $5 on a scratch off lotto ticket. He bought a sandwich. Funny dad. FML
Today, my mom cleaned out my bank account, saying my "no-good dad" owes her child support and that she'll get it one way or another. FML
Today, I told my mom I had 73 cents in my checking account. She gave me a penny and told me I had 74 cents and it was even now. Thanks mom. FML
Today, I realized that my father's weekly unemployment check is more than my bi-weekly pay check. My full time job pays less than my father's unemployment. FML
Today, I found out all the money my dad has been saving in the bank for me since birth has all been spent, by my mother who I haven't seen or talked to in about two years. FML
Today, for my birthday, my mom presented me with a $4,000 check to pay for my braces. I've been very self-conscious about my teeth for years. Everyone applauded and told me how happy they were for me. Later, my mom asked me for the check back. Apparently it was just meant to make her look good. FML
You asshat
Today, my father, who's never played much part in my life, told me how proud he is of me. I choked back tears, and we hugged for the first time in years. Later, I choked back my rage when I saw he'd opened my mail and obviously planned on leeching my new-found SSI money off me. FML
Because I'm worth it
Today, a mother wrote me a $130 check for babysitting her four kids for a few hours. Trying to be gracious, I said, "Wow, thank you, this is very generous!" She thought for a minute, then said, "You're right." She took the check back, ripped it up, and wrote me a new one for $55. FML
Today, I found $100 on the ground. My mom is taking $40 because she was there. FML

Your dad is a worthless piece of trash. Count your blessings that you don't have a dead beat like that in your life.

Wow. Your bread is a lot cheaper than mine. So is your father. Good luck trying to get him to take care of his responsibilities. It sounds like you and your mum have been getting by on your own so stay strong until karma/justice/vengeance/God turns things in your favor.

at least your dad pays maintenance there's di many single parent families where the father doesn't pay a dime

Well, when you look at it that way, her dad pays 4 times as much as those who never pay a dime! How generous...

"Never paying a dime" would mean zero. Four times zero is an astounding zero.

I see what you mean :/ Math was never my best subject...

I know the feeling. My dad moved overseas when I was 4, so he doesn't have to pay child support. My mum only gets $5.88 a fortnight from the governemnt. We're fine though, and I'm sure you are too. :) You're better off without him.

Ok, cause I'm nice like that I will provide some ham, pickles, perhaps even some mayo or other such condiment.. but the butter she must provide! :-P

maybe the mom is a coke head hmmm? and he doesn't want to pay her habits?? maybe she's a deadbeat mom trying to live off child support?

Hmm?? Yeah, what about that! Didn't think of that one didja?! And maybe the OP is also a raging coke-head and the poor put-upon father is just a lowly minister who gives all his money to street urchins and only has enough money for stale bread himself!!

Maybe you can get some extra money by asking your school for a refund *cheque

He's not a dad, he's a father. Any man can father a child but it takes a real man to stay with it, nurture it, and help it grow. That man's a dad.

He spent as much to send the check as the check itself was worth! Yikes!
