Today, after years of waiting, my mom and I finally received a check from Child Support Services. Excited, I opened it up to find a check from my dad, written out for 45 cents. Which pays for maybe half a loaf of bread. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I received my first payment of child support from my estranged husband: $50 and a note that said he wouldn't be paying any more. FML
Today, my Dad called me to tell me that he had finally won the lottery and that I no longer had to worry about trying to find a way to pay for school. I was so excited I started crying. He then told me that he won $5 on a scratch off lotto ticket. He bought a sandwich. Funny dad. FML
Today, my mom cleaned out my bank account, saying my "no-good dad" owes her child support and that she'll get it one way or another. FML
Today, I told my mom I had 73 cents in my checking account. She gave me a penny and told me I had 74 cents and it was even now. Thanks mom. FML
Today, I realized that my father's weekly unemployment check is more than my bi-weekly pay check. My full time job pays less than my father's unemployment. FML
Today, I found out all the money my dad has been saving in the bank for me since birth has all been spent, by my mother who I haven't seen or talked to in about two years. FML
Today, for my birthday, my mom presented me with a $4,000 check to pay for my braces. I've been very self-conscious about my teeth for years. Everyone applauded and told me how happy they were for me. Later, my mom asked me for the check back. Apparently it was just meant to make her look good. FML
You asshat
Today, my father, who's never played much part in my life, told me how proud he is of me. I choked back tears, and we hugged for the first time in years. Later, I choked back my rage when I saw he'd opened my mail and obviously planned on leeching my new-found SSI money off me. FML
Because I'm worth it
Today, a mother wrote me a $130 check for babysitting her four kids for a few hours. Trying to be gracious, I said, "Wow, thank you, this is very generous!" She thought for a minute, then said, "You're right." She took the check back, ripped it up, and wrote me a new one for $55. FML
Today, I found $100 on the ground. My mom is taking $40 because she was there. FML

Your dad is a worthless piece of trash. Count your blessings that you don't have a dead beat like that in your life.

That is terrible news for you. My mother told me that bread used to cost 5 cents a loaf back in the 1950's.

$0.45 was worth a lot more in 1950's.

So, the obvious solution is: build a time machine. :P
Ruff_fml 3
building a time machine is always a good solution : )

Can't build a time machine with $0.45. A conundrum.
fatfatgoeshome 8
But she could always get a loan and then build the time machine to go back to 1950. Then, once she goes back in time, the loan technically won't exist because it hasn't been made yet. Genius!

You know, there are such things as libraries and friends houses. The OP also never said that she, her mom, or even her dad was poor.
FFML_314 12
Why are people assuming that OP is poor? Stop adding stuff to the story.

She needed that money to pay for her kidney transplant. She's seven months pregnant too, $0.45 won't even pay for a can of baby food. They're 6 weeks passed due on rent and the mom just lost her job at the hotdog factory. What are they gonna do?!?!!

OP can be wealthy and it wouldn't matter! OP's ********, deadbeat "sperm donor" has an obligation to pay child support to SUPPORT the child he made.

Can he even do that without consequences for not paying the full amount?
redbluegreen 41
My dad didn't face consequences, so there is a chance that the OP's dad didn't as well. Then again, my disappearing dad has had problems with employment.

yeah he is screwed

They really should take him to court for this.

Depending on the circumstances, any effort to pay, such as 45 cents, can't be penalized.

Ah loopholes. Sometimes I love them, other times I hate them. Depending on if it's me who's using them. Fuhohohoho!~

23 that can be true, or his dad is a lazy ****** living off welfare.
amiemariej 0
naaa, you can't take money out of a welfare check for child support, he must be working at a shoddy place once a week or something.
Xavi89 0
your right, but you can take money from the welfare check an send it to them as child support in a different check. :)
