Today, I told my mom I had 73 cents in my checking account. She gave me a penny and told me I had 74 cents and it was even now. Thanks mom. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I found $100 on the ground. My mom is taking $40 because she was there. FML
Waiting for that trickle down
Today, I looked at my bank balance. It read $1.23. That's higher than it usually is. FML
Addict
Today, my mother asked me if she could borrow $200. Being the lovely daughter I am, I gave her my bank card to withdraw it herself. She gambled it away and maxed my bank account out. I had $1500 saved. FML
Today, I told my mom I loved her a lot. Her reply? "Thanks." FML
Today, I handed a middle-aged woman her change of $0.75 with three quarters. She looked at the change bewildered and threw the coins down, asking if she thought I could get away with only giving her thirty cents. I had to explain to her how much a quarter is worth. FML
Today, I figured out the bank account my mom set up for me is actually a joint account, and she gets half the money I deposit. I have been putting money in there for 10 years. FML
Today, I babysat for my neighbor's brat kid. The mom gave me $15 for 5 hours. I complained to my mom when I got home because last time I got $15/hour. Turns out my mom had told my neighbor that she thought they'd paid me too much last time. Thanks mom. Thanks. FML
Technically, that's stealing
Today, I told my mom about the $50 I'd hidden in case of an emergency, and how I couldn't find it. She said she'd borrowed it last week. FML
Scammers gonna scam
Today, my aunt and I went shopping. When we got to the store, she said she forgot her wallet, and I told her I would buy some things for her. When we were at the checkout, I was a dollar short. She said, "Oh, I'll get it!" and pulled out her wallet. FML
Today, at my retail job, a woman came to my till with her purchases. After I scanned all her items, she handed me two small bags. One was filled with nickels and dimes. The other was filled with cents. Her total was $28.53. The coins amounted to $22.30. FML

Getting your account under a dollar is both impressive and terrifying. Don’t worry, most of us have been there at one point.

Tell your mom you’ll get “even” when you pick her nursing home. “So, you have the highest rate of bedsores in the state? Excellent!”

In the States, nursing homes cost money. Give how well OP is doing financially the mom is probably better off making the arrangements herself.

Typically, when people are decrepit enough to be admitted to a nursing home, the kids have power of attorney and do the choosing and spend the parent’s money.

So, does your mom have a problem with odd number, prime numbers or does she just believe in tough (and cheap) love?

Two words: credit card. Here’s two more words: spumone monkey. Those two aren’t as helpful though.

I think the only time I had that little in my checking account was when I was 14 and had just opened a checking account.
