Today, I found out all the money my dad has been saving in the bank for me since birth has all been spent, by my mother who I haven't seen or talked to in about two years. FML

Today, I discovered my own mother has been stealing money from me for months when I opened my savings box to find it empty. FML
Today, I found out my mom took around $2,500 from my savings account to pay off my sister's college tuition. She recently flunked out of her studies and won't be returning to college anyway. FML
Today, I found out my father has been saving money to help me buy my first car. In the same conversation, I found out my mother, unbeknownst to my dad, used nearly all of the money to bail my drunken, deadbeat uncle out of jail for the fourth time a month ago. He's now back in prison. FML
Today, my mom cleaned out my bank account, saying my "no-good dad" owes her child support and that she'll get it one way or another. FML
Today, I found out that my parents are 28,000 dollars in debt and that my bank account has $27.17 in it. They took my money to help pay their debt. FML
Today, I found out that my dad has been trying to take money out of my savings account to pay for divorce fees and a hammock. FML
Today, I found out why I haven't been getting my bank statements for the past couple of months. My parents have been hiding them from me, because they've been stealing from it. FML
Today, I found out that when my uncle died, he left me and the rest of my family £2000 each. Only my parents kept and spent my share on themselves. FML
Today, I discovered that my mom got my college fund in the divorce. I will never see that money again and now I can’t afford a four year school. FML
Today, I finally realized that the only time my mother talks to me is when she needs money. FML

#13, I don;t understand why it's a bad thing for parents to want to help their kids.. It doesn't make them irresponsible entitled *****, it just means they get to start life with less debt.. I've been working since I was 16 - but my parents paid half my university tuition and I took loans out for the rest. My dad is insisting on paying for my second grad degree, not because I'm spoilt but because he wants to help.. People really need to re-evaluate the concept of belonging to a supportive family.

Happy to hear from someone in China. I know that in the East, it's the child's duty to care for their parents when they get older. For some people in the West, the parents do whatever they can to help their children, even later in life. I am happy when people help each other, either way. I like your idea to think about the loss of the money as a chance for improvement.
