Today, after years of waiting, my mom and I finally received a check from Child Support Services. Excited, I opened it up to find a check from my dad, written out for 45 cents. Which pays for maybe half a loaf of bread. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I received my first payment of child support from my estranged husband: $50 and a note that said he wouldn't be paying any more. FML
Today, my Dad called me to tell me that he had finally won the lottery and that I no longer had to worry about trying to find a way to pay for school. I was so excited I started crying. He then told me that he won $5 on a scratch off lotto ticket. He bought a sandwich. Funny dad. FML
Today, my mom cleaned out my bank account, saying my "no-good dad" owes her child support and that she'll get it one way or another. FML
Today, I told my mom I had 73 cents in my checking account. She gave me a penny and told me I had 74 cents and it was even now. Thanks mom. FML
Today, I realized that my father's weekly unemployment check is more than my bi-weekly pay check. My full time job pays less than my father's unemployment. FML
Today, I found out all the money my dad has been saving in the bank for me since birth has all been spent, by my mother who I haven't seen or talked to in about two years. FML
Today, for my birthday, my mom presented me with a $4,000 check to pay for my braces. I've been very self-conscious about my teeth for years. Everyone applauded and told me how happy they were for me. Later, my mom asked me for the check back. Apparently it was just meant to make her look good. FML
You asshat
Today, my father, who's never played much part in my life, told me how proud he is of me. I choked back tears, and we hugged for the first time in years. Later, I choked back my rage when I saw he'd opened my mail and obviously planned on leeching my new-found SSI money off me. FML
Because I'm worth it
Today, a mother wrote me a $130 check for babysitting her four kids for a few hours. Trying to be gracious, I said, "Wow, thank you, this is very generous!" She thought for a minute, then said, "You're right." She took the check back, ripped it up, and wrote me a new one for $55. FML
Today, I found $100 on the ground. My mom is taking $40 because she was there. FML

Your dad is a worthless piece of trash. Count your blessings that you don't have a dead beat like that in your life.

OPs mom needs to take the father to court to make sure his wages are garnished. If the check was written by the dad, he's trying to pull a scam. Some dbd will move assets into their girlfriends names to avoid paying childsupport. That's harder to do if your check comes right from his paycheck. If he's a government worker or in the military, this will happen automatically, otherwise it gets much harder. Be persistent.

I don't know about you guys, but where I live, cashing the check would leave op in debt 5 cents. FYL op, that truly does suck.

sounds to me like he's trying to prove a point to your mom. suck your caught up in their bs though. people don't define us. it's what we do with what were given that will. forget about it and him and when your older I'm sure you'll know why they aren't together and maybe you'll actually understand it. do the best you can in the meantime good luck!

maybe your dad sent $5000.00 but by the time those loosers at the child inforcement agency took their fees out that was all that was left

Op, I hopeone day you become rich. Then when your pos 'father' finds out he will try and creep back into your life and you can give him .45 cents.

I go to the discount bakery outlet here and get a loaf for 89 cents. But still, knowing that doesn't make knowing your dad is an ass any easier.
