Today, after breaking up with my boyfriend of 2 years, I was backing out of his driveway when he came running out yelling "STOP!" I thought he wanted to make up so I kept going, until I'd run over his dog. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Bad boy
Today, I was driving home with my girlfriend. As we turned onto our block, she shrieked that our dog was running down the street and into traffic. I jumped out of the moving car and chased him for about a mile, only to give up, go home, and find out it wasn't our dog. FML
Today, I broke up with my boyfriend. As I left his house and began to drive away, I see him chasing after my car barefoot. I stop and roll down the window, ready to listen to the speech he has prepared to win me over with. He takes a moment to catch his breath and says "I want my cellphone back". FML
Today, my boyfriend broke up with me. As I was leaving his house, I heard him shout, "Hey! Wait! Sweetie, get back here!" He was talking to his cat who'd run out the door behind me. FML
Loser
Today, the dog my now ex-boyfriend and I own together bit me bad enough that I needed stitches on my face and my hand... he then broke up with me and saying it was all too much for him and has kept the dog... FML
Today, my boyfriend thought it'd be a good idea to break up with me in his car. I had to walk home. FML
Murderer!
Today, I was backing out of my garage when my neighbour's collie ran behind my car. Unfortunately, I didn't see it, but I heard a thump. They were out, so I rushed him to the vet's. I was upset, and I guess I was driving too fast and didn't see that another dog was crossing the road. I killed two dogs today. FML
Wrong place, wrong time
Today, my boyfriend and I got into an argument. Naturally, I drove over to my best friend's house for comfort. My boyfriend saw me driving past his house and promptly broke up with me for being "a psycho stalker." She lives across the street from him. FML
Today, my boyfriend broke up with me. He let me know by shaving "CYA" into my dog's fur and then moving out before I got home from work. FML
What would you do?
Today, I broke up with my boyfriend. I'd trusted that he and his ex were “co-parenting” a dog that he and his ex adopted while they were together and nothing more was happening. His ex is pregnant and he’s the father. He insists that he doesn’t love her anymore and it was a “mistake.” He wants me to take him back. FML
Today, my fiancé and I broke up, and he won't answer my calls or texts. I don't want him back; he has my dog. FML

You seriously deserve this... F his life for being broken up with and having his dog run over in one day.

What if a kid was there?! Anytime someone waves their arms frantically and yells stop while you are driving, you should probably stop. And poor dog :(

No sympathy, your ex boyfriend should be the one on here, not you.

I know I'll probably get buried but I understand why OP kept going. As it was a two year relationship, it would be reasonable to assume that he would be wanting to keep going in that situation. If all he yelled was stop, then how could she know that's what he was talking about? If he was pointing or yelled "my dog!" Or something, then it would be different.

When something you care about is going to be run over, especially a pet, you don't really think about what words to use as a warning. "Stop" is really easy and quick to say, and generally it gets people's attention quickly and the almost immediately cease what they're doing. Unfortunately not in this case, which really shows what happens when you don't listen to another person saying "stop."

Totally agree. Natural reaction when you break up with someone is for them to try to change your mind and engaging in that conversation only causes more harm. He should have been more specific. And he shouldn't have let his dog be lying outside in the path of a car anyway. Not ops fault AT ALL, just an unfortunate accident. If anyone's to blame it's the ex boyfriend.

If OP had stopped and kept all windows up and doors locked - that would have been completely reasonable and would have cut off any reconciliation attempts by their recent ex. But continuing to drive while clearly emotionally erratic was not intelligent. Anything that happened as a result of that poor decision-making is therefore OPs fault.

#85 You're an idiot. It's her fault because she should've been paying attention to what's behind her in the first place. Also, he tried to warn her! There is no excuse for her actions. Nothing she did is justifiable so just stop it.
sparkledoge 29
#85 you've never seen someone or something you liked in such a situation have you ? When your dog is about to get run over, you don't think "hmmm i should probably specify it is my dog so she knows she had to stop" you just start yelling "stop" or "wait" in a panick. So you're implying if it had been a kid back there, OP would still be in the right for hitting a kid with her car just because "her ex should have been more specific" ? I sure hope you don't have a license and if you do, i hope i never have to be anywhere near you while you're driving.

how could this get buried... Tf?

#20 I understand what your saying, but this was a two year relationship and OP should have known her ex well enough to understand when something was wrong. screams of fear and I want you back are completely different she should have known.

You do realize it was his driveway right? Why would it be a problem for his dog to be in his drive way?

Did you come on this site looking for sympathy? You're the worst.

Today, my girlfriend broke up with me. To add insult to injury, she ran over my dog with her car as she left. FML

You should probably watch where you're going next time...
petalbird 10
so when backing out of driveways you are able to see a small dog behind your car??
Mathalamus 25
you know, one should design cars, or something to enable you to see the back of the car, where it cant be seen by the driver. special camera, maybe?
Ultrimanius 16
There are cars like that, my mother owns one. She has a type of Subaru, 2013 model.
Mathalamus 25
oh. well, good. my idea is already done, then.
thesmeagol 22
If she was watching she would have seen the dog go behind the car, unless it was there prior to her getting in the car. Then her eyes could have seen it before getting in the vehicle.
brezzyanna 17
#34 you are responsible for making sure there is nothing behind you when you back up. You're actually supposed to go behind the care before you get in to make sure nothing's there, and watch to make sure nothing goes behind you before you leave. Most people don't actually look though, so if someone tells you to stop, then stop because you don't know what's wrong.

This is way more of an fml for your ex boyfriend. And maybe I'm being biased but you sound like a bitch.

tbh i don't think you sound biased here

It was a horrible misunderstanding.. While I understand everyone here being upset over the dog, she didn't kill the dog with her bare hands.. Some sympathy for OP would be in place, as she obviously feels horrible knowing what she did
llama612 27
If she really felt horrible she wouldn't be posting on FML trying to garner sympathy for HERSELF.
SilverInGray 25
I thought that was the point of her posting...that she felt bad about what happened.
DoomedGemini 38
She's saying f HER life for it happening.. Id say it's more f the exs life or the dogs.
interesting33 37
When posting on fml you have to say f my life - you don't get the option to say it for someone else.
catherinecas 30
@57 maybe she's using FML as penance. Having strangers scream online abuse at her might be a way to punish herself.
sohigh10 34
llama, do you seriously think she posted this because she thinks she has it worse? You're all assuming that she's a horrible person, but I have no doubt that she feels terrible for the situation and for her ex boyfriend. She's not trying to garner sympathy for herself, but God knows she isn't getting any from this hateful community..
llama612 27
This is called FML aka **** MY LIFE. Pretty obvious that means someone is saying how THEIR life sucks right now. That's kind of the point of this site.

Do you not know the meaning of stop?
