Today, a guy who I've been on five dates with called me for the first time in 2 weeks. The first thing I said was, "Don't expect me to go out with you again after going AWOL on me." Then he told me his mom died. FML

Today, my boyfriend of 2 months got upset and frustrated with me because he had yet to meet my mom. I'd told him on our first date that she passed away 4 years ago. FML
Today, I realised that the first guy I've dated in five years has ghosted me. It took a lot for me to agree to go on a couple of dates with him, and I thought they went really well. Apparently not, seeing as it's been over two weeks since he last texted. Self confidence = shattered. FML
Today, I went on a fabulous date with a really cute, smart, funny guy. He only mentioned his dad, so when I asked about his mom, I asked if they were divorced. She'd died of breast cancer so I felt awful. Then I asked if his dad had ever remarried. His stepmom had died of cancer too. FML
Today, I had a first date with a guy I met online. And his mom. FML
Today, the guy I have been seeing left town to visit his family for three weeks. A few hours later, he called me from the airport to say he is never coming back. FML
Today, a guy I was seeing’s father passed away. He’d told me he “needed time to grieve” and he’d reach out when he’s ready to talk again. This was a month ago and haven’t heard from him. I just saw my Instagram feed containing a picture of him and his new girlfriend kissing. FML
Today, while I was on a date, I noticed my ex-boyfriend in the restaurant, and he looked sad. So I walked over to see him and jokingly said, "You look like your mom died or something!" She had. FML
Today, my boyfriend of two years broke up with me. Why? He said his mom didn't want us together anymore. His mom died three years ago. FML
Today, a first date with a guy went so badly that he actually paid me to never call him again. FML
Today, after dating a guy for weeks, it seemed that we had a lot in common; we also had great time and it started to get serious. Then out of the blue he went cold, told me that he's gonna have an operation, has 5% chance of dying so he doesn't want serious relationship, then ghosted me. He's still alive. FML

#11 Maybe she didn't call because sometimes girls may get the wrong vibe from a new interest, or don't want to come off as clingy and needy (which by my understanding is TOTALLY unattractive to a guy), BUT if that was the case, I don't know why she would answer the phone like that. In her defense though, as with a lot of these FML's where people say blatant things, there's no way she could've known.

if a guy calls you back dont be an asshole about it, especially not the second you pick up the phone. at least wait until he does something for you to call him out on. you could've avoided this by just being nice

That's a bitchy first line, whether or not you find out that his mom died. You are assuming the worst of a GUY that is CALLING YOU BACK? I hope at least you said this in a way that was GENTLE and TEASING. If a guy finally calls after two or more weeks and it's NOT in the middle of the night and the last time you saw each other was NOT purely a hookup, there are usually extenuating circumstances. I you were interested, you should have called or texted before, anyway. As it stands, you're kind of a bitch. Obviously, this doesn't make you boyfriend and girlfriend - five dates, two weeks, that's not a relationship, dumb previous posters - so he wasn't obligated to tell you about what happened, and it sure as hell wouldn't have been a priority. It's amazing he got back to you in two weeks, really. If he forgives you, you owe him a ******* parade. And a cake. And... probably a *******.

I'm with #11, if you don't ever call him, what makes you think you have the right to get mad when he doesn't call you? And #13-- calling a guy once in the span of 2 weeks is not clingy by the standards of any guy I know (myself included). In fact, if you never call him, then he'll eventually go looking elsewhere since you don't seem to have that much of an interest in him. Coy women can be just as loathsome as clingy ones. That being said--F both your Ls. Neither of you deserved that in the end.
