Stinky
Today, my dog decided to play with a skunk. Today is also the day I figured out that no matter how much you wash everything that's come in contact with the smell, it will never go away. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, I ran over a recently-killed skunk in the road. My truck now smells absolutely rancid, and the smell will probably last for months. At least it goes well with my dog, who was also skunked 6 weeks ago. FML
Today, my house absolutely reeks of skunk after my dog got tagged at 10pm last night and we didn’t realize it until she was already back inside. This is on top of a nasty case of whole body poison ivy my 6 year-old is dealing with, and my wife’s appendix decided to leave the chat last week. FML
Today, I was going for a walk and I kept smelling pee wherever I went. After about an hour, I finally figured out that the smell was me. My dog had peed on my sweatshirt. FML
Today, I took my dog to the park. It had recently rained, and he started rolling in something unidentifiable. When I got home, I discovered it was a mixture of mud and who knows what else. Now my house smells like a swamp. FML
Today, I used a new body wash that smells like vanilla cookies. My dog spent the entire day chasing me around and trying to lick my arms. FML
Today, my dog farted. Immediately, he turned around to sniff his stink then furiously licked his butthole. He then licked my nose. FML
Today, my dog ran away. It was dark, so I couldn't see very well, but I ran after him anyway. Thinking I had caught up to him, I grabbed him. It wasn't my dog. It was a skunk. FML
Today, my boyfriend and I were about to have our first kiss with each other, but my dog decided to let one rip, stinking up the whole room. My boyfriend still doesn't believe it was my dog who did it. FML
Today, my cat got sprayed by a skunk for the fifth time in two years. He still loves to chase skunks, and gets sprayed every time he does. The putrid scent doesn’t seem to bother him at all, either. Every night, he normally pushes himself up against my face and nose. It’s gonna be a long, restless smelly few days. FML
Today, my dog and I got sprayed by a skunk. I have no tomato juice or baking soda, and the bus doesn't come for another 3 hours. FML

Had a roommates dog that actually did that 3 times in just the few months she lived there. Some dogs aren't very bright.

Soak the dog in tomato juice. It’ll help the smell, for everything else, though, no clue.

My dog has been skunked twice. It does go away if you use the right stuff. The best stuff is vodka -- if I drink enough, I don't mind the smell!

Bleach will break down the smelly thiol compounds. Hydrogen peroxide might as well, if it’s concentrated enough. Neither work on the dog, and they may stain, but They should work on the smell.

Dish soap with a little bit of baking soda does wonders. My dog tries to play with the skunks... good luck!

Just had this issue.... Try this. 1 quart 3 percent hydrogen peroxide 1 teaspoon baby shampoo or grease-cutting dish detergent 1/4 cup baking soda Lather this mixture onto your pet’s fur and let it sit for five minutes. Make sure not to get it into their eyes. Then rinse and wash your pet with their regular shampoo. Repeat if necessary. Keep in mind that hydrogen peroxide may lighten your pet’s fur, so don’t leave the lather on for more than five minutes at a time Note: Do not store the leftover mixture in a sealed container or bottle, since there is a risk it could explode. Also, if you don’t have hydrogen peroxide on hand, you can try white vinegar. This worked but had to bathe dog three times :/ The rugs she rubbed on were sprinkled with baking soda and dawn allow to dry and swept up and rinsed with a shampooer. Activated charcoal (like for fish tanks) and cups of vinegar sitting in each room also help. Good luck. I swear I can still smell it and it has been months....

we used baking soda and dawn cause we had no peroxide. tomato juice just covers the smell you have to deactivate it. also whenever it gets wet again it reactivates the smell. it took over a month for his breath to get better tho
