Some girls are bigger than others
Today, while taking the subway home, a woman offered me her seat. I smiled and declined. She said she insisted because of my "pregnancy." I was too ashamed to say I wasn't pregnant, so I just took the seat. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, I entered the crowded bus and one man sitting in the priority seat glanced at me. Upon seeing my protruding tummy, he quickly offered me his seat. I took the seat. I am not pregnant. FML
Today, I saw a woman who I thought was pregnant on the bus. Trying to be nice, I offered her my seat and congratulated her. She wasn't pregnant, just holding a large bag of groceries. The entire bus heard me and the death glare she gave could’ve turned me to stone. FML
Today, a pregnant woman got on the bus. There were no free seats, so I stood up to give her mine. An obese man pushed past her, waddled over, and oozed into my seat. I said it was for the pregnant lady. He called me a "sexist bitch" and claimed he needed it more. FML
Today, as I stepped into a subway car, I noticed some free seats and began walking towards them. A group of girls standing nearby looked at me, then at the seats, and made a run for them. They then high-fived, presumably as congratulations for sitting down before the pregnant lady could. FML
Today, a sweet old lady gave up her seat for me in the bus. She lectured the entire bus that seats should be given to those in need, like myself who is "heavily pregnant." I'm just fat. FML
Today, I offered my seat to an elderly lady on the subway. She quietly refused. Minutes later on a sharp turn, she almost fell down on two people. As I was clearly the youngest in the disability seating section, everyone on the train turned and glared at me. FML
Today, while on the bus, a small child asked me if I was having a baby, and I replied "Yes." I'm not. I was just too ashamed to admit I was fat. FML
Today, a businessman in his forties tackled me to the ground in an attempt to take my seat on a crowded train. When that didn't work, he called me a fat bitch and gave me the finger. The seat was given up for me because I'm seven months pregnant. FML
Today, a woman on the train demanded I give up my seat for her, claiming it was for people with disabilities. Tired from a long day at work, and seeing she had nothing wrong with her, I asked what her disability was. Apparently, obesity is one. FML
Today, I got on the subway with a broken leg. A kind woman stood up and offered me her seat. Before I could sit down, a guy shoved past me and took it for himself. The woman and I pointed out my cast and crutches, and asked him to give up the seat. He responded by flipping us off. FML

Loudly announce that you're not pregnant you're "just fat" and make it really awkward for everyone

not exactly a victory since OP clearly stated that she didn't want it in the first place.

People really shouldn't assume someone is pregnant. that's so rude!

You can't stop someone from thinking that. But people should save the embarrassment (on both sides) by not expressing their thought out loud.

here's a thought maybe they were just trying to be nice and it isn't our fault if you carry your weight in the "wrong" places. it may not even be her fault, I guess what I'm saying is don't be so testy.

Not really, what if she really is pregnant and could use some rest? You can never win in todays society no matter what you someone will be offended.

Well, I agree you should offer someone like a pregnant woman or elderly person a seat, but op DID decline when first asked.

Plot twist: the person knew OP was not pregnant, and just wanted to insult her

#15 offering someone a seat seems like an elaborately nice thing to do as a method to insult someone.

I sometimes have dreams where I ask someone if they're pregnant and then they say no and start yelling at me. And then I wake up and start crying
twister45 17
That's when you go back to sleep and slap them for yelling. You have the power now.
MassiDelta 28
You have empowered me!

Don't worry about it. A lot of times people just say things without thinking about it. She clearly meant well when she offered you her seat.

You got a seat in an obviously crowded situation AND made the other person feel pious. They deserved to lose their seat from making assumptions - even if well-intentioned.

If she asked when you were due it would have been more awkward
